My house is OK, plenty big enough for the 4 of us - I would like to live by the sea someday though.
The trouble is that it needs certain urgent repairs doing that we simply cant afford to have someone in to do, and dont have the knowledge to do ourselves. I worry long term that we'll have serious issues here, and not be able to do anything about it
I know where you are coming from hun.

lots of rooms/space, posh stuff and a big garden does not make a house a home.
I live in a 2 bed housing association house... not posh by aaaany stretch of the imagination but it's my home because I've done little things to make it mine... and it's more of a home that a lot of other people I know at the moment. The majority of whom can't even afford to move out of their parents' house. Even though they're 30+!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Well, that kind if thing-I send DH to sort out a few jobs and in return, we get a night away (dropping off kids to Aunty Spud)
Just an idea...Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Loads Bun.
We have a hole in the bedroom floor that we have to step over, or else we'll end up downstairs. Our floors are big flooring boards, and we just havent a clue how to repair it.
The fascias (i think thats what theyre called) need painting or replacing. They're beginning to rot.
All sorts:o
Spud - just HAD to delurk to say - the other week your OH managed to fix your dryer didn't he - with instructions off the internet ? Just thought maybe he could do a little research on repairing the floorboards - maybe ? XXNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
SAd isnt it really when you consider I have a MIL and FIL around the corner and a SIL less than 4 miles away and we've had 2 nights alone since DD was born 6.5 years ago...
No wonder we dont even kiss anymore...Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Just to make my green eyed monster even greener, my friend just updated her FB to say that she's off to sit by the pool with a mojito. They live in Spain
You'll always notice posts like this more when you're feeling down, they stand out more.
(with a bit of luck she'll swallow a caterpillar stuck to a mint leaf!
)
Our kitchen is old and knackered, two of the hobs don't heat up properly
The kitchen floor is warped because of the washer repair man that didn't put the waste pipe back in properly when he replaced the motor
Our bathroom was bad taste even for the 70's, even The Waltons would have replaced it! The shower is barely a dribble, ceiling paint cracked and the old blue show through. The tile paint that we used is now starting to come off leaving patches of the old brown and all the sealant round the bath is black.
Two of our chests of drawers have drawers that have come off their runners and don't shut properly so they stick out
Our wardrobe door has broken and come off leaving open shelves of clothes open and appears to be a smorgasbord for moths
Our TV ariel has a metal plate thing that has worked loose and if flaps about in the wind making a right racket.
The wood panelling on our back porch is rotting and starting to lift away, it lets in the wind and rain, I've shoved some 'behind radiator foil insulation' stuff inside to catch the draught.
the boiler is very old and on it's last legs, I dread to think how much energy we waste with the inefficient dinosaur and old immersion heater!
Jessica's bedroom (she's now 6) is so small it won't fit even a regular single bed in it but we don't have an extra room and can't afford to do the loft out for years!
The wind blew off 2 roof tiles this year and part of the gutter is rotting and coming away.
Oh, and half the doors in the house don't close properly.
but you know what?
f*ck it!
Having thought hubby was losing his job last week and that we'd be up !!!!!! creek I'm not worrying about it anymore!
We'll get round to each thing as and when we can, the rest can wait!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

Ell, I've been stepping over this hole for about 4 years, since the kids jumped off my bed and went through the floor. We have another forming where a radiator leaked a couple of years ago, not so important as it's in the spare room.
I'm sure he could have a go at fixing it, but it's getting him to do it. My idea of buying a sheet of metal (summink hard and strong enough obviously), bigger than the hole to patch it didnt go down well - he just tutted and said I dont understand what's involved
