Morning all!
All excited about my trip to meet redruby this morning! Will be depositing my girls in that well known creche - Primark, whilst we enjoy a coffee in Starbucks. I love meeting people from here in real life, everyone has been exactly as they seem, good to know that there are genuine people in the world who don't make up strange and new personalities online!
OS stuff will be limited today, as out and then working. Think hm burgers for tea, as I have some ready in the freezer, will do wedges or hash browns with them and hm beans I think. Need to whip up a pud, so prob apple crumble as quick and easy and I can ask ds to make it whilst I'm out!
Rubbish sleep last night as had nightmares and kept waking up yelling and crying, very weird, must've been all the cheese on my pizza at lunchtime!
Hope everyone has a fabulous day and hugs to all who need them xxxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning all
raining here too
Off into work today to gut and tidy my classroom, followed by lots of labelling books, trays etc ... can't go in until after lunch time but reckon I'm gonna be there until 9pm... that wont include the reading room ... I can't venture into there until I have backup as it harbours the BIGGEST spiders
So the plans for today are; make up 2 lasagnes, 2 lots of macaroni cheese and 2 lots of chilli con carne all to freeze so when I start back next week I've got less cooking! Made some onion bread in the BM lastnight using Wessex Mill flour and it is so yummy and fillingalso bought their tomato and garlic flour so looking forward to using that
Must also remember to book car in for MOT so I can use it for work
Hope all that have been unwell are on the up and those celebrating a B'day are having fun
Burp x0 -
Master tru ate all the flapjacks  so there's more in the oven as I type. I've made more sponges too, they can go in the freezer.
I popped back on to ask about The Complete Tightwad Gazette. WH Smiths say they can't order it, Waterstones say it'll take a month to arrive and I WANT IT NOWWhere did you all buy yours from? I usually use Amazon but they don't accept book tokens so need to buy it in a shop.

Morning everyone!!
Taplady - hope that next lot of results are good and that you made things up with hubby! Big hugs to you hon
reverbe - Managed to sneak a pm into your box!
Tru - Congratulations to you both - oh, and of course Harry!! It's great to see you posting on the daily again
mummysaver - Well done on the toad in the hole!
Molly - It's great that you have sold some books already!
Sunny - I use arnica on anything that might bruise, it's fabulous stuff and really helps with the healing.
Had a delicious dinner last night though it was a plan B day. My OH managed to pick up some knocked down scallops for 10p - with about 8 plump scallops in each. So we griddled them and then poured garlic butter over them and put the other pkt into the freezer for another day. We then had corn on the cob (on offer in Tescos) and some crusty bread. It was lovely.
Spent some more time out in the garden though it was almost unbearably hot. It's looking a bit blowsy right now but did a little weeding - took some pics but the lawn looks untidy as it is in dire need of a cut. Have decided the fence needs another coat of paint as the grain is showing through and I would rather do another coat now and then leave it a couple of years than have to start afresh next year.
OH went shopping to Morrissons last night and came home with some wonderful marked down stuff. We now have a freezer full of their deli pies - four chicken and leek, four rhubarb, four chilli slices, four steak and kidney and four cornish slices - each pack only 60p! We are all set in pies-ville now! He also bought home a bbq belly pork slice which was covered in crackling, so guess what we had as a late supper? Yumyumyum..!
Hope you all have a good day - we have dark skies so thinking the rain is about to start any min.to all who need or want them.

Hello again everyone :hello:,
Thanks for the luck everyone. It's really sweet of youse.
I have three hours before my second interview of the day  and I'm tempted to put my mince in the slow cooker. Just a quick question to anyone who adds grated carrot to mince, do you fry it first or just chuck it in?
I'm going to try and stretch a pack of mince to a two person portion of chilli, a large lasagne, a large shepards pie and two small ones. Ambitious for a first try but I reckon I might as well embrace it wholehartedly.
I wish someone on here would set up an OS boot camp where you're taught how to fit all the things some of you guys do into a day, cook well, grow veg and make stuff. Oooh and shop like Diva, if I came home with pies for Mr Maitane in that quantity at that price, I think he'd love me more! :rotfl:
Everyone who is poorly - I hope you all get well soon and positive vibes towards you all via hugs.
Everyone else, have a great day, especially Redruby and Mummysaver.
Oh and welcome to Minxz, I'm fairly new too and everyone is just so lovely here. You'll really like it in my humble opinion.

Tru - glad to hear you caught up with Moggins - I PM's her a while back but didn't get a reply so happy to know she is doing OK! Send her my best won't you please?
Bitsy - don't say that Summer is over already - I haven't had my hols yet!
Mummysaver & Redruby - have a great meet!
I've been off wo*k for a couple of days - really avoiding the HR people as I was finding the 'redundancy situation' very stressful! Got to have an interview next Weds for 'my' job (although it's moving location and they are cutting 3 roles to 2 - think I said before that it's 99% sure going to be me!). I was really hoping that it would carry on being delayed until I can go off on Mat Leave (December), but looks like it is not to be. Darn. That's gonna cost me a lot of money I can ill-afford to lose, so I'm really cross about it all.
OS-wise I have been using up the fridge & freezer contents as we are away this weekend (Fri to Mon) then back 4 days then away for a week - Yippeee! So we've been having some rather odd combinations of meals...
Having another scan tomorrow, combination one with blood tests to assess baby's risk of Downs & similar - had to book a private one as at 39 I am 1 year too young to have it on the NHS - makes a change to be too young for something I guess!!! Am a bit nervous of results, but looking forward to seeing the baby on the screen again (and hope s/he behaves this time and we get a good view and they are able to take accurate measurements!).
Well, that's about it for me for now, (((HUGS))) to everyone who wants/needs,

I've had a little parcel from an amazon seller today. A 1940 copy of Farmhouse Fare published by The Farmer's Weekly. Cost me a fiver and it is in really good condition. One of the recipes I want to try from it is rabbit brawn which will use up the pig's trotters I have in the freezer. There is one recipe that has got me puzzled Scruggin Cake. It was contributed by a lady living in Wales so I wondered if scruggin was a Welsh term.
You need 1 lb of self raising flour, 12oz chopped scruggins, 8 oz sugar and milk and water for mixing. You mix the lot to a dough, roll out an inch thick and bake. I'm thinking that they are either a kind of fruit or maybe it's a dialect word for lard or scratchings? Does anyone out there know what a scruggin is?
I've made a batch of wholemeal apple scones and 20 fruit buns. I've made the pastry for my pies and now must get on with the filling (leek, onion, garlic, potato, cheese and parsley).
There's also a pile of ironing to do:rolleyes:0 -
