Best Wipes are Huggies, I have bought and tried all other brands from Pampers to Boots, Tesco to Wilkos.
Quality vary from ok to complete and utterly useless.
    Huggies every time for me.

Virtually any Store brand of instant cappaccino, and
    Nescafe Skinny cappaccinos
    All completely dreadful.
Impossible to get a decent drink from them which isn't covered in 'lumps' of powder.
Taste is abysmal- especially Asdas own brand - should have a health warning on the box !!
Exception to this is M&S own Cappaccinos which I find ok

Agree cheap frozen peas dreadful - but petit pois versions fine.

I must admit I rarely bother with chopped Toms as even own brand are so expensive now.
I just buy jars of Dolmio - I have used Ragu and stores own Pasta Sauce - I don't bother any more, as they don't taste nice at all - even kids complain !!
Other acceptable Pasta sauces are Lloyd Grossman and Jaime Oliver, although kids find LG one a bit strong.
I then dilute with some passata, for which even the cheapest store brand is fine.;)

Thanks op for starting the thread - useful way to stop others making same expensive mistakes :T
  • See, i have no problems with the tinned tomatoes but then i just throw them in a shilli or something, i might be a bit gutted if i was having them with a fry up and they were all watery though.

I would defiantely say the basics rice krispies are cack and would not buy them again, there isn't too much price difference in the value and own brand to be honest, i gave my 4 yo some of the basics and he takes a while to eat and after 5 mins, they were stuck rigidly together in the bowl, seriously, when i threw them away they fell out like a brick and nearly dented my bin:rotfl:
    :j:j:j
  • Tesco value coco pops...vile!:eek::eek:
Tesco own brand version of sugar puffs(can't remember the name!) are so sticky that they came out the box in one big solid lump. After chipping some off to try, the kids overwhelming result was yuech! Straight to bin.:rotfl:
Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D

Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p

    SW start 08/01/14 4/21lbs (1st target) :j
  • thanks for that! won't bother - 3 females in this house range from a DD to an F cup!

maybe I was optimistic thinking my 30G cup would fit anyway! However in my defence I offered them to my friend who couldn't fit her 34B in them either!

    99p shop Go2be shampoo - volume for fine hair - obviously 99 p.

Ever used mousse on nearly dry hair and then tried to get a brush through it?

Well that's what it's like when shampooing with this stuff! It's a mousse which i didn't realise and doesn't really lather well and makes my hair knotty as I wash it.

Hideous stuff. I used once and will bin. Honest I will. (I'm loathe to throw ANYTHING away but there really is no way i'm going to try it again, once was enough!).

Tesco chicken supernoodles - not horrible as such, but just nowhere near as nice as Bachelors imho.

Tesco Value runny honey is foul. And so, as others have said, are Tesco Value frozen peas.

Morrisons low fat mayonnaise - it doesn't run out of squeezy bottle it comes out like lumpy wallpaper paste!

Trying to make prawn cocktail suace by mixing it with ketchup the mayo just went into lumps.

Looking at the ingredients it's almost all guar gum so no surprise it was like glue.

Ainlseys Harriet new range of boxed meals to cook yourself - excellent value when half price, but if you buy one double up on the amount of meat recommended (especially the keema curry) otherwise you'll only by feeding yourself - 250g of meat isn't enough for 2!

The couscous in the kofta and falafel product is disgusting - lemon and black olives don't go together. Same again with quantities - 250g of lamb for the Kofta mans you only get four small ones.
  • Any of Morrisons first home range - we bought the kitchen knives and the can opener when we moved into our new flat. The blade of the knife came right out the holder when my husband first used it - a bit dangerous! The can opener broke within a few days. Got a refund but wondering if they actually do safety checks on these things.

250g is approximately two government recommended portion sizes of meat for an adult! I would suggest you add a generous helping of vegetables, pulses and/ or carbs to the meal rather than more meat.

I bought the range when they were on offer in Asda £1 a box, loved the Vietnamese Kho , the Keema was ok, didn't like the Kashmiri pasanda and the Kofta is still in the cupboard. I agree there isn't enough for 2 people as a main meal, maybe enough if they were used in a banquet.
