It's time to look for another job. If you don't like how they are treating you then leave.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

Love the Drag me to Hell comments! My auntie told me a tale of how a temp came to work in her place and a few days after starting the temp came in crying as her purse had been stolen. My auntie gave her a few quid and the manager said soft touch she probably made it up, you wont get that back. The manager's roof came off that night and my auntie wont a raffle and got the £5 back. I'd give an extension but then I couldn't work in sales.0

If I KNEW she was going to lose her house, I don't think I could live with that. I'd give her the time, and pay the consequences later (if that leads to a sacking then I'd be failing in my duties as a human being NOT to take them to court, IMO)
Maybe I'd have a different view with kids or whatever, but my opinion at the moment is that there are some things more important than the job. I know there are a lot of people suffering in the world already, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night being part of the cause for another one.0 -

What if the same old lady went in a supermarket (where you worked on customer service) after being declined extra time and gave you the same story saying she couldn't afford any food. Would you giver her a hamper each week until she could?0 -
Being hospital doesn't mean she has no money, so surely if she's now back on her feet, she can write a cheque today?
If she has the money then immediate payment shouldn't be a problem (appreciate she may need to go and cash the pension, although I thought that was all automatic nowadays), if she doesn't have the money then why not? That's not likely to be related to the hospital trip (unless it was for cosmetic surgery).
If she can pay then she should, if not then she should expect to lose her house.
Angela should of course record all the pertinent circumstances and refer the matter upwards since I'm sure sweet little old ladies losing their homes can be front page stuff - let the boss take the decision.0 -
Isn't this a scenario from the movie Drag Me To Hell? I watched it last week.0
