I've got a classic - which means that I get a debit card too (have survived for over a year without one with HSBC).
I have requested NO overdraft though - so I still need to keep to my budget - but when the account is set up, I will look into changing my other DD's to an earlier date. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! You get a visa debit with LLoyds TSB basic account as well.0 -
I have a Step account with the Natwest, they really don't care. The Step account will charge you the sum of £38.00 for a returned direct debit. I cancelled a DD on the Friday morning, and was assured that this would be recalled and it would not show on my account. Monday morning I looked and I was £192.00 overdrawn. I called Natwest actionline at 08.55 on Monday morning, and an advisor who was extremely rude and arrogant, told me that I should give at least Three clear working days to cancel any DD's and furthermore, the £38.00 charge would stand. The Nat West are moneygrabbers who exploit people on low incomes, and lie through their teeth. Be very careful if you bank with Natwest, they have stung me every month for charges when they have stated to me that I will not be charged.0

They raped me on my current plus acc and let me get 2.5k overdrawn and then demmanded it back!!!
They are only good if you have lots of money and are very careful. Having said that I have learnt my lesson and I very careful how I bank now and never get charged for anything with rbs or lloyds.0
