Can some of you guys that are quoting that basic accounts report to the CRA's post screenshots of the actual entries that appear deleting the personal data cos it is unlawful for banks to do anything with CRA's on non scoring accounts and I have raised this with the FOS on numerous occasions and each time they categorically tell me that basic accounts are not credit products and therefore do not get reported for conduct to the CRA's.

I argue that certain banks are apparently doing so and they asked for proof so has anyone got any please?

I am disputing the legality of being allowed to report incorrect data, i.e. a basic account is NOT a bank account and so should not be scored and as no scoring, should not be reported to the CRA's.

    Any proof greatly appreciated....

...if HSBC do close the account, will that affect my (already bad!) credit rating???
Depends how they mark the account on closure, ie Experian's "Your credit report explained" booklet* says an '8' marker can mean "the lender has closed your account" (as well as the usual "default"/"broken the terms of your agreement" meaning).

They can use code 8 with reference to Experian but they won't, it will end up as settled or simply as 'U' (unclassified) but as per my last post, i'd be querying the validity of them reporting in the first place.

Status 8 usually refers to default/forced closure for fraud not necessarily for bouncing 3 DD's (i.e. breach of contract) after all the banks breach contracts daily!

Again, thanks for the replies - I have said that it was entirely my fault - I got the DD date wrong.

I have applied for a LLoyds TSB account - so fingers crossed that will open smoothly and I can transfer my banking across to them fairly smoothly.

Did you apply for the classic account or cash account ?

Suggestion, get all your DD going out the same day!

I used to be all over the place with my DD but now I have them coming out on the 1st of the month and 15th, that way I only need to remember two dates and the amounts needed to cover my DD

Or ensure that at the start of (or whatever other date is convenient of) the month you have sufficient funds in that account to pay all DD's for that month, and use a different account for other stuff (shopping, withdrawals etc.)
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

I have tried this before - but been told that some companies won't change the date.

My major DD's go out on the 1st - but I haven't been able to change the others.
