Make sure you have insurance in place. Does the puppy come with insurance from the breeder make sure you can claim immediately if you experience a problem. If you take out an insurance policy yourselves it will not be valid to claim against until 10days 2 weeks from the start date.
I don't mean to alarm but with my very recent experience we needed insurance within 12 hours of collecting our pup. Im sure its very rare but better to be safe than sorry.
Wishing you and your family lots of fun times.
now our pup is feeling a little better we are having a bit of fun. one tip wear shoes or slippers around the house, as our pup loves to attack our feet when we are not expecting it....!
The cardboard box is a real haven for our Elsie it makes her feel secure.

I wear shoes all the time now as our pup (border terrier) has an obsession for licking feet - it tickles so much its horrible!
Microchipping - our vet was going to charge £25 but I discovered that the RSPCA will come to your house and chip your little person for £12. I just googled it with my area and got all the info. They also do chipping events where you go to an event and pay £10.0 -
Thank you we are in the process of sorting insurance and I am goig to discuss microchippig with vet on weds. Does anyone have any advice re the training issue? In Perfect love and Perfect Trust.0

No she wont be too old at all.
One of the wee lads I fostered had to have an emergency op so was "late" starting classes at nearly 6 months - your wee one will be less then 4 months old and to my mind will be just about right for classes. You as a family will have got used to handling her and will know what motivates her better. You will be grand0 -

Obviously the younger you start the better but if you are happy with the class then the wait won't hurt.
Will they let you go along and watch the current class to give you some ideas of what you could be doing meanwhile?
The most important thing is the socialising which is why it's good to get started really young but this is something you need to every day not just once a week anyway.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -
I am really disapointed that there is such a wait but they have a class starting next week so i suppose october would be right for the next one. Shame she cant start next week but obviously would not have had the required jabs by then.In Perfect love and Perfect Trust.0

Yes wait for all the jabs before you take her to classes. You can train your puppy yourself before that, just basic sit and walk to heel would be fine. Loads of info online on how to do it and it's very simple. And before she has all the jabs carry her everywhere as that helps socialisation.0

I cant wait untill tomorrow the two week wait since we last saw her seems to have flown.we have been so busy getting everything ready.
I will post a pic as soon as things are settled here tomorrow.
We could all really do with cheering up here at the moment as my father in law passed away on wednesday after losing his battle with cancer. I am now hoping that Izzy will give the chlldren something good to focus onIn Perfect love and Perfect Trust.0 -
