    I've been Money Tipped!
:hello: Hello and welcome to Ol Style Fredsgirl! Everyone is very friendly on this board and I am sure you will get loads of encouragement and help.

To start off with at the top of this page in a blue horizontal bar you will find a link to squeakys (our boardguide) indexed collections. You will find lots of the recipes and tips that we all use. It takes time to adopt many of the ideas, I have found, but slowly and surely I have made inroads on our budget. Many do better than me. Best of luck and see you around the board. Feel free to pm me if you need more help.

Hiya again, Fredsgirl. I thought maybe this thread from Discussion Time might give you some ideas on freezing food.

This lot in Old Style will get you on track though. They certainly did for me.

    Hi fredsgirl,

    Welcome to MSE. :)

Sometimes I spend a day cooking various meals to stock up the freezer, but mostly I cook double what I need for a meal and freeze the left over for another day when I want something quick for tea.

If you look in the Mega Indexed thread (near the top of this board), under Cooking and recipes you'll find lots of threads on freezing. The ones I've listed below might help you get started:

Setting my challenge a little higher as I'm having difficulty keeping to it. Perhaps I've been too ambitious. Anyway here goes for June. £300 for the month. Here's hoping I manage it this time.

My grocery challenge is going to be a tough one this month. I need to keep to a budget of £100 for bubs and me. That sum includes toiletries, household cleaning and laundry items. It's his birthday in July and I want him christened this summer so need to cut right back if I'm going to make both events nice.

I do waste food far more often than I should, so this will be my major way of achieveing my goal - just to stop throwing food out! It should be doable if I avoid the "just a pint of milk" pitstops where I come away from the supermarket having spent £15.

Well went a tiny bit over this month - £353.79 so £3.79 excess, however its still about £250 less than I used to spend so I am still ok with this. I am still wasting food so I need to start being even stricter on myself and either not buy so much fresh veg (fruit gets eaten no probs) and just buy frozen or make sure I start using it all.

Also going to start getting myself organised to do my main shop online this month as I am sure that will help me with picking up 'bargins' that I don't really need.

As its DS birthday this month I will be spending extra on drink and food for a party for the family but have been saving my clubcard points for this so hopefully no strain on the budget.

Month runs from 22 May to 21 June - £350

    Hi everyone
I am thinking of joining you in this chat as I am looking always at reducing my bills and trying to saving money. ;) I hope I will be succesful.

Just in food tend to spend around the 100 to 110 mark. So as you mentioned maybe go down slowly, first 75, and see how it goes, so 75 x 4 = 350.
    That will be the challenge.
