Pay day yesterday (28th) so a fresh start. i overspent last month by nearly £50. I say 'I' but I was ill over the Easter hols and DH went shopping and bought all the expensive branded stuff and things we didn't need! I'll stick to the same amount which includes all food, toiletries and lunches for me and DD's.Books - the original virtual reality.

Right here goes, OH spent £7.20 on fruit in the market on thursday, got loads, I spent £57.51 in Asda, got quite a few woopses so meat should last at least 2 weeks, hopefully 3,also spent £13.85 in Savacentre. I was getting a taxi home, so wanted to make it worth my while paying £4 for this. Total spend so far is £79.06, but like I say hopefully I only need veg, milk and bread, over the next 2-3 weeks, and the dreaded cat food. I'll try to figure out how to put this in a sig, might help me stay more disciplined.

I have been reading the boards at work but we're not allowed to post to message forums. We have broadband at home now rather than dialup so I hope to be a more frequent visitor. It's a wonderful site and I have learned a lot.
My mum has been staying with us for a few weeks and was surprised (horrified really) at the amount of money I spend on food. Until she mentioned it, I hadn't really thought about it. I've looked back on last year's spreadsheet I have spent an average of £104.81 a week for food and household - for two of us and a cat:eek: We rarely eat out and I always cook from scratch. We do throw a lot of food away - mainly salad and veg as I'm always full of good intentions. We have an organic box once a week and our milk from the milkman. We both take packed lunches to work.
My aim for May is to spend no more than £80 a week. That is still probably an excessive amount but I figure I should start with a goal that I can achieve.£2 coin savers club £42 (joined 2 May 2006)

You have to start somewhere Boswell.:T
Little changes can make a surprising difference. If you manage to cut £20 per week off your shopping bill, that's £1040 over the year.... What are you going to spend it on:DI like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
Hi
There are only two of us and a small dog so I think we can get by on 30 quid a week (approx 120 quid a month). I have never done this before and may be well off course but I'll give it a go. Have started well doing this weeks shop with ASDA online (using a free delivery voucher) and managed to spend 30.65 on what seems to look like a lot of food in a list. It's being delievered tomorrow and should last nearly two weeks as there's tons of canned stuff, pasta, rice etc and we have quite a lot of things in the freezer and cupboards at the moment.
Also spent 6.40 on fresh bread, veg and meat at local shops today. So a total of just over 37 quid so far ! Fingers crossed.

Thanks troll35. I think it'll go towards paying the mortgage off early. Have been reading the mortgage pig thread and have dusted off my little piggy. He has a rumbly tum!£2 coin savers club £42 (joined 2 May 2006)

Count me in for May! I'm aiming for £120 for groceries for May. This is for one adult and one cat, with occasional catering for non-resident bf and non-resident bf's son.
For the past couple of months I've managed on about £150 - a massive reduction from the shameful excesses of my former shopping habits (over-optimistic purchasing of salad and fresh veg, usually ending up on the compost heap... and a health-threatening takeaway habit!)
I'm hoping to cut this back further by joining in with Sophiesmum's May Storecupboard Challenge...
Wish me luck and good luck to you all!0
