Hi everyone!
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend, mine and OHs has been pretty rubbish! Started off well enough, spent Saturday morning in Matlock Bath went on the Arcades and had chips on the river front. Coming back on the typical Derbyshire windy roads and the car just spun out of control and we ended up in a ditch. Thankfully we hit a wall which stopped the car - if it wasn't for the wall god knows what would of happened because there was a massive drop behind it!The recovery guy said we got away lightly as most cars end up on their tops on that road (great!) only damage is a few scratches and a flat tyre - thank heavens!
More bad news is OHs mums boyfriend drilled a hole into his little finger at work *shudders* and is in hospital, also he's damaged the nerves but fingers crossed (ho-ho!) he'll be okay.
In better news - me and OH have been offered a house to move into if we want it. On paper we really could go for it but it makes me all nervy! I'd love too but I'm just a tad too scared.
Dinah - Did you manage to get all the listy bits done? Sounds like you got a fab deal on the dishes! Utter pain about your car though, have you managed to get it sorted?0 -
What are you scared of Cinny? Personally I think your fiances are too tight to be taking on a big commitment like a house, since you're only part time and your OH has debt, but you can only do what is right for you.

Oh dear not a brilliant weekend Cinny. Hope your OHs mums boyfriends ok. Also glad you are Ok after the car accident. Whats this house you have been offered then?
Dinah - I would like to experience a wedding fair but expect it to be like how you described. Things like that always feel a bit pushy.0 -
Haha, glad you're getting into the spirit of it Dinah! Did you get any ideas at all or nothing?
Cinny, how awful, bet you're both pretty shaken up, sounds like OH and that car are not meant to be! As for house, exciting prospect but remember when you're looking at it on paper to allow enough spare money for treats and general spending and emergencies, not just enough to cover bills, you need to have a life as well.
Flower, pleased to see your debts are starting to go down, once you get into the swing they'll be gone in no time!
Lovely weekend here, met a friend for some vino on Friday night which was lovely as haven't seen her in a while, went out and bought this book for a tenner in TK Maxx - can't find any links that show you the inside but it's gorgeous, proper food !!!!!!! Went to see District9 last night, anyone else seen it? I really enjoyed it, made me laugh, cry and think which is always good. Very lazy day today, made a veggie soup and did a dry run of the Guinness cake I'm making granny for her 75th. She loves a good Guinness. Looks OK, have only tried the little bits of sponge that fell off when getting it out the tin, they tasted of Guinness but weirdly nice!
Hope everyone's ok!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Completely agree, when OH and i moved into our first rented flat we could afford the bills and rent and that is about it. We couldnt afford treats, emergencies or just general spending. It drove us mad and is also to blame for our debt.
We have a much better quality of life now we dont have to worry about things like that, and to be honest i think we moved in with his parents at just the right time as we were really starting to argue alot, where as now we are getting on again much better.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

I felt the same about my splurge the day before Ireland. That said, I don't now but it was a much, much bigger splurge to be fair!!! I think my splurging is directly linked to my stress levels.
Going out for dinner at The Ship in Worsall tonight for my brothers 19th, supposedly its really good food, hope its not only sunday roasts given the day!
We have traded in all our clubcard vouchers for open university vouchers. NIM is doing two courses, the first part of the Statistics and Computing degree. If he decides not to go further than these two courses then it is a certificate in its own right, so no harm done really! Since we used clubcard vouchers for most of it, we only need to pay about £180 to settle the balance. Just hope the vouchers arrive by Friday which is the final day for registration.
Does anyone know the link to the page with the current clubcard points loopholes on?
