  • Yeah sorry, might be getting on my soapbox there!

I don't fancy Vegas I have to say, for a wedding or for a trip, there's nothing about it that appeals to me at all. Obviously if I won a trip or something.. but there's a million other places I'd rather go first. Hmm, like Bruges if we ever get around to booking it, I cans ee it's going to be a bit of a non-starter and I'm very upset :(

Honestly, yes I'm kind of in bits, I keep hoping NIM will speak to the pastor at lunchtime and it won't be true, otherwise I don't know what we'll do.

The church only does weddings for its own members as apparently the head pastor feels responsible for the souls of his flock - surely we're flock already even though not married we attend?!

  • You are defo flock! Most of my friends and me included never go to church, and lived together pre-marriage and still got married in a church. I know I didn't get married in Ireland, but my friends did.

    I hope it isn't true.

Tete - what is happening with Bruges?

Dinah - Sounds like a rather old fashioned Church! Saying that, if the Pastor really feels responsible for the souls of his 'flock' then he should be itching to get you two married :D I'll keep my fingers crossed for the meeting though.

Glad your OH has come around CMD, the email sounds good too!
  • Pastor sounds a bit of a busybody if you ask me, your living arrangements are nothing to do with him - you're good people and you're flock already - which goes back to my point about if you're good enough to attend on a Sunday you should be good enough to be married there.

Would explaining that you're only living together because if you didn't NIM would be in Ireland help your case at all?

Nothing's happening with Bruges really, waiting for OH's payday but I'm worried that the prices for Dec will have gone way up by then..

NIM is going to talk to the pastor at lunchtime, I'm accepting this is not in my control and for one way or another it will get sorted out.

Hope the e-mail goeas down OK CMD, think you wrote it in a clear but nice way so hopefully they will agree.

Dinah - Hope evrything goes well with the chat with the pastor, as the others said most people do live together before they get married so it does seem stupid. This is why religion annoys me, although I know it is just this church not all churches.

Spoke to the pastor, he was a bit confused and said it was fine, might be an issue if we wanted to become members but the wedding is not an issue!
