Yay for payday Birdie, mine isn't till Tuesday. That is annoying about not getting paid enough and the tax etc, hope it all gets sorted soon.
  • Dinah your meal out sounds like a bargain for the quality of food you got! And the wedding venue sounds good!

Wendz that's annoying about your meal out. At least the food was decent though!

Cuz it's my 21st in March I'm trying to decide what I want to do. The choice is either go somewhere in Europe for a couple of days, or go to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and stay the night in London. I'm thinking the London option would be cheaper. Has anyone here been to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant?!

Cinny I can't believe the price of the boots! Even though they're designer I think that's madness! If I asked my Dad for that sort of money he'd tell me to bog off. :p

Birdie you've put me off pizza hut, and I had a 50% voucher to use as well! I guess it will help my diet :)

Sorry, this is turning into an epic post, but I have decided to try and get back into DooYoo. I was wondering if someone could link me to their DooYoo profile cuz I have no-one in my circle of friends! :o I don't think I'm very good at writing reviews but I'll give it a go!

  • Wow, busy on here today - no-one working because it's Friday? :D

Are you looking in the same area? We went to see another one last night, and NIM is really taken by it. The wedding coordinator there is AMAZING

    Do we get a link?

Where have you found that does online fabric Tete?

I was just googling really, the nicest ones I found were on ebay ...

We have a new budgetting technique to help NIM keep track of the money. We're setting up an email addy for spends, and everytime one of us spends something, we email this address with what it was and how much, then he can add it onto the spreadsheet every few days or something.

Oh and other money news, we're going to skip a month on some payments for things we budget for, like holidays, possibly car as well, we need to see how much money is in there as my insurance is due this month. By skipping some of these payments a month we should be able to clear the CC, meaning NIMs car will clear most of the OD and we should be back on track.

Good idea - that's almost like a spending diary and might prevent you from spending in the first place! Is NIM taking over as of this weekend? Also good idea about relaxing on the non-essential outgoings til you're back on track.

That meal sounds a bargain too, can't believe it was that cheap for three courses! Was it happy hour?

Look at the back of the pattern and you will see layout is the same on both the english and french/spanish side. All you have to so work out what size you are in english and the look at the corresponding column in french.

You have to work what which clothing item you are making with the pattern as it will different parts for different things. You then need look at the back and work out how much material for each bit. Total it up (add a bit extra for mistakes) and then purchase the material.

Poolie, you're a boon to this thread - is there anything you can't talk knowledgably about?

£50 - I could see how that would be difficult. We are luckily if we got out twice a month. Plus petrol and food comes out of the joint account and not my account directly.

I would like not to have to go out all the time - it sounds really spoilt and precious but you get so sick of eating out - it's not special any more. Would love to have our own space and kitchen to cook for ourselves - soon hopefully!

Wendz I didn't know there was a bar in the OXO place? How swish. That's annoying about the dessert thing though, there's nothing like being made to feel welcome

I saw that article too Birdie ... but I didn't read it haha! I think as long as you're not eating it every day it doesn't harm to have it once in a while! I've done that before with overtime - did about four days at time and a half and after tax only got about £80 for it - I never did it again! Hope OH gets his tax sorted soon!

    ETA - Zig - go to Europe it's your 21st! :p

It was loads of stuff and they are really nice too!

I got a beautiful purple swing coat that will last all the way through pregnancy, 2 dresses, 2 cardigans and a jumper, plus socks and slippers!

My Mum bought the coat for me and also bought me a jumper and 2 tops from Mothercare.

I was thrilled with the stuff. Obviously the Primark stuff isn't maternity but I have only put on 2lbs so far and have a tiny bump so the longer stuff that is in at the moment will stretch with me. I will probably start growning at an alarming rate from here on in, as you put on at least a stone and a half. Hopefully it will be all bump :)

The venue was saw last night. I think its a bit pretentious on the inside and a bit utilitarian on the outside! However if you can find pictures its the 'White Room' we'd have for our afternoon, that bit at the top of the stairs with the piano for the drinks reception, and then there is a big room with large windows for the evening do. Just noticed you get a free bridal suite and champagne breakfast the morning after - I'm sold! The service there does seem to be head and shoulders above the rest, and I can see how I could make the inside fantastic, but I'm just a little unsure based on the outside. Plus after Wynyard anything is going to be rubbish.

The menu last night was technically happy hour Tete, but its from 6-10pm Monday-Thursday for £11.95, and £15.95 Friday-Saturday (don't know what happens on Sunday!) so its really an all the time special. It was packed though, if we'd walked in as a 4 we'd never have got a table.

ETA: There is a club on the same site as that venue, which really makes me nervous. I don't know how much noise will travel, if the grounds will be full of drunken teens and so on.

  • Primark should do a maternity range - I think they're missing a trick there!

Hmm, that's certainly where all the kids went to get drunken from my school so possibly... Maybe worth a trip there on a Saturday night to see? And if there are places where you can get nice piccies, it seems to tick a lot of boxes...

That venue looks stunning. Have you gone onto wedding chat forums to see if any of your potential venues are being discussed?

I was on them before my wedding and found them to be very supportive.
