Empty car park with no signs about clamping etc

Across the road from my work place there is an empty car park to the rear of an office building that is empty and has been 'to let' since xmas.

Ive been parking there discreetly for a month or so its only me there and my car is well out the way (and out of sight) causing no obstruction, ok I know I shouldn't, but its saving me £6 a day :o. But just put that out of your mind for the moment, and look at it in theory ( btw if i was asked to move I would and not go back).

The question im asking is - could i get clamped or fined? There is NO signs stating it is private, or that clamping is in operation etc, all that there is there is a sign saying ' refurbished offices to let phone xxxxx xxxxxxx (estate agents number)'

Could they turn up one day and put a sign up about clamping and then just clamp me whilst i was away from the car and obviously there would of been no sign when i parked?

Or would they just stick a note on asking me to move?

They could clamp you without putting a sign up. Not legal, of course - but clmapers aren't known for their honesty, are they?

I am all for saving parking charges. And well done for saving well over £100 already, but if your car is damaged, towed, clamped, blocked in or anything else unpleasant, then you would be in a very weak position having knowingly parked on private land.

Forget the law, here, (the clampers do). Just weigh up the potential hazards and benefits and is there anywhere else you can park for free within a 5-10 minute walk? If so, then probably best to do that.

Yes that is very true and is always on my mind during the work day.

There is the NCP which is £6 per day, raliway station (10 min walk) £4.90 a day, various roads outside peoples houses, but thwey dont like it and damage you car.

Have you contacted the estate agents for their permission - perhaps a donation to their charity box might keep you out of trouble?
