lowest bid auctions

  • The concept of these is quite simple, and they are nothing like MadBid and Swoopo in the sense that you have less chance of completely wasting all your cash.

There are loads of different auction methods out there. Take a look at this blog, titled "A website that will sell me a brand new games console for £10? Surely there must be a catch...":

    http://tomorrowsshopping.blogspot.com/2009/10/website-that-will-sell-me-brand-new.html

It looks in detail at 3 different auction sites (1 being a lowest unique bid site) and compares them pretty well. Swoopo is also one of the sites reviewed in this blog and is summed up pretty well, too. Its a great read, very informative.

Swoopo is 100% not a con, and anyone with a little common sense can easily see this. Lot´s of people have won on Swoopo, an astronomical amount, actually. The only difference is, around 20 times more people have lost. The same can be said for lowest unique bid auctions, a lot of people lose, but as that blog points out, some auction methods are a lot more addictive and take all your cash off you a lot quicker. I read a blog once that said "Swoopo - The Crack Cocaine of Online Auctions" - extremely accurate comment.

Out of the 3 mentioned in that blog i linked to earlier, Spree4 to me stands out as the clear winner for user fairness.

Although it still may be running a concept a lot of people would disagree with, it definitely doesn't rip you off like the other mentioned sites, and gives a hell of a lot more choice and control to the user.

I'm not and never have been a fan of these auction sites, and the same can be said for many savvy users on this money saving board, but if i was going to use one of these sites it would be spree4. Take a good look at how it works, and think about how many complaints they will get compared to Swoopo.... i bet the difference in unhappy customers will be massive. www.spree4.com

Not only can u buy at any time that suits u,. u can also win prizes when checking the price.I have spent £10 on credits and won 2x £3 and one £2 credit on just 7 price checks. My friend Bought £10 credits and won £10 amazon vouchers on first price check recieved in minutes by email.
For me spree4.com is fair & fun. It allows me controll. I can check the price of my chosen Item for £1. I then have a minute to decide whether or not to buy.So far I have decided to wait hoping for the price to drop before i buy. yes someone might come in and buy it before me but i still have a chance as three auctions go on side by side and anyway the competition is part of the fun. So yes spree4.com seems to be the best of these sites where you can get a real bargain if you are prepared to bide your time and have a bit of fun on the way
  • I actually thought I'd put my money where my mouth was and went on spree4.com and made a purchase. I got £50 of amazon vouchers for £38 and I got them by email within an hour. A modest saving, but still £12 and that was enough to make me buy them.

The £10 auctions really intrigue me and I will be popping back to see how they've gone down. Imagine that Mexican hol for a tenner lol, I would love it!

Every time someone clicks on an item the price goes down by 30p, BUT it has cost that person £1 to click, so all the site has to do is to pay 30p of the £1 to the seller and pocket the 70p. No wonder they have got plenty of sellers as they are guaranteed to get the starting ie full price for the item. Don't be fooled. Yes someone will get the item cheaply but for every £1 he saves it will have cost the other bidders over £3 in click credits.

How does that make it a scam? Of course the site is going to make a profit, otherwise what's the point in running it? The users on the site know what they're getting into, they're paying for the chance to get a bargain and get an item for a really low price.

Say I went into a shop and bought a tin of beans for 30p. I'm pretty sure the shop didn't pay 30p for the beans from the supplier, they probably paid pennies. I'm not going to go around saying the shop is scamming me, am I?
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important
