Of course we did not give it but it has been embraced all around the world.Look at Hollywood movies. They are watched all over the world.I think we should teach our kids to be proud of what they are and not ashamed as seems to be the norm these days.

Sorry I digress but the fact remains that overseas call centres are not as secure as uk ones.
we don't need security here: we leave it on the train for them.
I happen to know one high risk target in UK that ''sweeps'' the underside of your car...the sweepy thingy, the name of which I don't know, has been broken for...a while.
It ight of course have been fixed by now. I think where you lose my sympathy dfh is your atitude there is ''uk'' and there is ''overseas''. I'm amazed at the number of brits that really think we are the pinnacle of civilisation and security. Its sadly, not really true.
FWIW, I am very proud to be English, as well as British, just on the realities of the situation, and the future we could have.0 -

When my mother had Alhzeimer;s we had some foriegn doctors who came to see her.I have no doubt they were nice people.Problem is my mother could not understand them and they kept calling her by her surname without a mrs. They could have used her first name. When she went into a home, it was the same.I am sure they were caring but my poor mother suffered as staff could not communicate with her.But I am not blaming them.Problem is that this present generation is workshy and hence we need foreign workers. If our youngsters worked hard we will not need foreign workers to come and do these jobs.
When I'm on the tube when an elderly person comes on the first people to get up are foreigners with no hesitation.
People brought up in the UK are not brought up to respect elderly people.
Geriatrics is one of the specialities UK trained doctors don't want to go in. There as there is no problem getting Paediatrics. Have you ever wondered why?
So it's nothing to do with people being work shy it's to do with respect of elderly people, which the British in general do not have.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I don't know why it is now a crime to be proud to be English.I agree colonisation was not right but we abolished cruel practices like suttee and child marriage in India. We also gave them railways. And we have given the world the English language. We should celebrate our achievements. How else shall we inspire the younger generations if we teach them to be ashamed of our heritage?
India wasn't one country before the British arrived - yes British. Lots of projects wouldn't have got off the ground if it wasn't from people from all over the British Isles. But I understand you are proud of forcing people into being a country............I'm not cynical I'm realistic
