It was a busy weekend, and did some spending (budgeted for ;)).

    Saturday
Hair done and now looks good again after a shocking 4 months away from the hairdressers. When I say I had roots, I'm not joking (three hours sat in chair - numb bum!) - £66.
Drinks and shampoo - £5 (all on offers at Morrisons)

    Sunday
Lunch with family - also contributed towards parents meal so they didn't have to spend - £20
Coriander and drinks from supermarket - £3
Clothes for hols - bought a fab tight blue faux leather jacket with 3/4 length sleeves, a few pairs of tights, a nice stretchy top for work/play, and a pretty corsage broach to dress it up for going out. Hubby bought four tops and some socks. Total spend £50. All from Primark and H&M... Amazing!

Now... About the debt busting... I'm going to change how I'm doing things a little. I had set a goal to reduce debt to £18,250 by Jan 2010. However, I've now decided that, once the minimum debt repayments have been paid each month (£810-ish now), I'll put the rest that was marked for debt repayment (around £700) into the savings account again in the event of redundancy or me needing the cash for the new business. If the cash isn't needed, then it'll go straight off the debts. This means that, whatever way things go, I'll hopefully be a bit more covered.

I figured this would be the most sensible strategy as it really wouldn't make any difference in terms of interest since the two cards that we have now (Santander and HSBC) are on 0% and the loans... well, there's no flexibility to overpay so until we pay it off, we pay what we pay. I just need to make sure we don't dip into the savings - that's all (she says!).

good plan to put the money into savings, i'm doing that for my loan that i am going to pay off in advance. My reasons are the same as your, if it looks like i'm safe at work next year i will pay the loan off early if not then it can stay there a bit longer and continue to build up.
  • Hi Lemon Tree

Hope you're okay - having survived the weekend. Did you get everything sorted out? Bet you're pleased to be home....

    Spends for today as follows:

£6.90 on shoe repairs - funny, used to think nothing of spending this on just lunch but now think seems quite pricey.... oh, how the price has turned!
£2.20 on cereal/lunch - one packet of cereal from m&s which doubled up as my lunch
£4 on wine - well, I just cannae resist!
£35 on laptop repair - broken keyboard

Closed down old M&S c/card tonight - and refunded £24 credit balance, which should get in 5 days.

Off to my graduation tomorrow,,, but will try and minimise spending. Looking forward to having a day off work if nothing else!

Also... really excited at the moment as this business idea is really starting to take off. Now have a business partner. Very exciting but also bit scary at the same time. At this point, I'm looking to launch in April, but it would mean putting debt busting on hold for a short while and.... um, borrowing money to invest in business. Might sound a bit crazy (it does, right?), but the way I feel at the moment, I just think that life's just too short for messing around in a hopeless job....when I could be spreading my wings and doing something exciting, fulfilling and challenging.

    We'll see!

Glad to hear the buisness idea is progressing - you sound very enthusiatic and excited about it all. :T

If you need any help or ideas for marketing or other aspects then just let me know and i'd be happy to help! (I work with other acu students and often find myself giving them too much info, so now wait for people to ask when they're ready!)

    Hello Emma

Yep, all exciting stuff - tho a little scary too, but all good.

Re: offer of help for marketing, that's really kind. Might be good to pick your brains at some stage!

Graduation was great and I felt quite proud of myself - yay! Made sarnies to take to eat so didn't spend too much needlessly. However, I did opt to have photos taken (£30). Anyhow, it was a nice celebratory day - finished off by being taken out by my dad for dinner. Bless 'im!

Accidently managed a NSD today despite filling my car with petrol - because I forgot my cash cards... Oh dear. Apparently, I was the 4th person today to do exactly that. Some comfort to know that I'm not the only dopey one! :o:o:o:o

Those hats (mortarboard?) aren't very flattering! Pics will be on my fb at some point :-)

Hope you're having a good week, Lemon Tree?
