Still not quite back to Earth yet, but s/e is winding her way home so house is now quiet *g*

black paw Yup, I did win one, but it has turned out to be faulty. I wasn't sure if there was a fault at first, but bloke on Scillys had one and comparing the two made it obvious. I think it's one of those things you love or hate. Tis certainly easier for bigger books rather than having to hold them and audio book function, but download books are expensive still. Sony have just brought out a new version (at £249!!), so may be worth waiting a while as the price may drop on these original ones? although run the risk of them not being available much longer.

Waterstones link to old and new for comparison.
mega thanks john lewis has one for £145 in sale , i can't hold books too well as my hands go numb, and some feel just to heavy to hold , thats why i think it could be a good idea, i saw some where free books to down load ,,but read some diff formats out there,,,,mmmmmm will think more on it

I've found this company in Edinburgh to be quite competitive for things like this: http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=Sony+reader&amp3sid=o3l33uilfef6gh5jad18lfjeu2&x=0&y=0#guide_result

They are really good if you contact them with queries and their customer service is excellent too.
oooooo mega thanks lots of bits and pieces they have ...tooo :T

i wanted too know how all of you get on with your lives i went on holiday last weekend with the family and now i am so tired and in pain i can not do a thing.

BZ i have been following your wedding plans from the beginning its been like watching a film and now i am waiting for the big finale!!!!! I hope you get all of list ticked off soon so you can rest before your big day.
To be frank, we struggle! :rotfl:It's about getting used to your limitations as much as anything. I basically had to strip back doing everything so I knew what "normal"/baseline symptoms was, then work out how far past that point everything took me. You gradually start to build in various things that help you keep you on a relatively even keel...from things like having cushions properly placed to prop your arms up when you're on the couch, to trying weekly shops in a wheelchair. Whatever your level is really. The church I go to even provides me with a comfier chair with armrests on (normally provided for the older ladies ;)) so that I don't ache so much from the normal ones.
Oh and welcome btw ;) As you can tell, we'll talk about just about anything :p
Thanks re the wedding...as you can tell, I may be a little excited!! ;)

I don't suppose you have a Nintendo DS do you? I have a friend who's had hers made into a book thingy...I can ask how if you like? I think you'll pick up an old style DS for far cheaper than any of the designated book readers, and you're right - you can download books freely in certain places/ways.

hello all -just back from sisters -took nephew home -and had his birthday party-he is 10 tomorrow -he is one lucky boy-was born at 25wks and weighed 1lb 11oz-he is now slightly smaller in height for his age and has some concentration /retention problems but otherwise fine.So he is a little extra special to us.
Bless him. I'm really glad he managed to pull through as a little tyke! Made me all gooey that has...:o

Nice to have you back CWTA and Unity -our little family are all together again-and nearly ready for the WEDDING
-l really feel we will all be there in spirit on the day-if we can get BZ to give us a rough time of the reception we could decide on a time and all raise a glass of bubbly/orange squash! to the happy couple at the same time.
Aw bless your cotton socks!!!! The service is at 2.30pm and the reception is from 4, theoretically, but I reckon with the photos etc it's gonna be getting on for about 6 (when the evening guests will start arriving ) before we get to do speeches.

We went to the venue tonight to meet the photographer (friend) there so he could get a feel for the place prior to the day. I think he's a bit nervous bless him. It was all set out for an engagement do in a very similar way to how it will be for our wedding, so it was really good that we got the chance to see it like that. I think DF took some pics, so I'll try to get them uploaded if you wanna see? In going and seeing what they've done (paying professionally) tho it's given me a few more ideas...which of course means adding to, rather than taking away from, the to-do list...:rolleyes2

The buffet tables will be in a sort of ante room you see, and they'd followed the theme through by putting a few decorative pieces in there too, which actually made it look much better...so looks like I need to get another 3 vases and flower sets, and some voile type material to edge the table with...16 foot of it methinks...*sigh* Ah well. The photographers other half is the designer friend who's been helping me with the personalised labels for wine gifts, loveheart favours and bubble bottles etc...and she said she'd have a look at the Order of Service layout for us, as we're struggling to get it to look how we want basically...and losing patience!! Bless her, she's a star!

I've finalised with the venue how many booster/high chairs I need and what our toast drinks requirements are now, so that's another thing off the list at least. Also found a garter I'm liking...wanna see? Or is that a stupid question? ;)

I'm hoping, this weekend, to: get DF to mow the back lawn, completely overhaul the tip of a house I currently reside in, get the Order of Service paper chosen and layout sorted and printed ready to be trimmed down by designer friend on Tuesday, order the garter. Sound doable? (and yes, I am completely ignoring my body's cries for rest atm, esp as when I allow it a lie in it takes the peess by listening to my brains wedding-based ramblings!)

Also, do you guys have any suggestions about what I can get as a groomsmen gift for my 11yr old nephew?? And I also need one for my dad?? My groomsmen gifts, you see, are personalised wine bottles - and my dad is T total and nephew is blatantly underaged. Completely at a loss for inspiration, other than getting my dad a non-alcoholic wine, but haven't found a decent looking one..? And help folks?? My budget is about £10max each.

  • sharon i didnt realise how lucky i was until my 2nd or 3rd year of paed nurse training when i realised how many of the problems some kids had were caused by prematurity...your nephew should be extra special to you all, hope he ahd a good party.

bosegirl welcome to the thread. dont be scared, we are a friendly bunch, i hope you keep posting and join in our chatter now you have taken the plunge :) i wont answer your question becaus ei dont have fm but im sure some of the others will join bz in telling how they manage. have you read the spoon theory btw?

paw i did have a play with my sisters last time i was down, and it is deff easier than a book to hold, my test for anything is can i read it curled up in bed (which is why i dont like hardbacked books, theyre too big) and it is perfect, can you tell i want one :) there are a few sites that do free ebooks, the gutenburg (i think) project has a lot of now out of copyright classics. as do a few others.

bz i think that would be sweet for your dad and of course we, well i at least, want to see when you get a chance to put photos up. for nephew what about a mug or something engraved to make it personal and commemorate the day for him?

Forgive me if I drop off and start snoring whilst I post this - still shattered from all the walking, sea air and early get ups to make the most of the hols.

boesgirl A little sad that you've been tentative to post but glad you've joined us now. I quite like the idea of you having been involved in THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURYfrom the background. You know us now so hope you decide to stick around. We've only got to become such friends by posting lots and I can tell you that having friends here who understand without you havig to explain has made a world of difference to my mental state. I don't have Fibro but some similar things (yes, they do seem to come in multiples) and you gradually find ways to cope with things within your limits. Please do stick around and post again - we have a giggle as well as sharing info etc.

sharon Toasting the wedding is a wonderful idea! The brave ones can even post a photo of the tipple of choice being toasted even if it's just tea *g*
Wonderful to hear the little lad is now so well.
We are a little family aren't we - fabbie way to think of it. Except we can't be a family as we all get on too well *g*
Let you into a little secret of mine - East handbags are lush and tend to be half price in the sale - don't tell anyone else *g*

bz I forgot to say, I did see the photies of the dress, but couldn't post - I luurve it! I think the idea of a mug or maybe even a special photo of you, DF and him to mark his part in the day.
Will have to keep an eye on DF's butt and try to work out what underwear is in place! *cheeky g*
Apparently you can get special thongs to wear during pregnancy (as if you would want to) - can you get him a magic pants thong?!

pcl Didn't realise you were a paed nurse - my ex-SIL is a Sister in ICU at Great Ormond Street - wonderfully rewarding work but must be heartbreaking sometimes.

Unity Hugs to you for being such a brave sweetie with the injections. You have no idea how much I am hoping that they give you some relief. I missed Tudors too and have been scouring the TV schedules to look for a repeat of the episodes as it's much nicer watching on TV. Will let you know if I find out when they're on.
Hoping to pick your brains soon over a camera upgrade - think am finally ready to take the plunge. Took predictably loads of photos (500+) while away and found I am distinctly lacking in the zoon department etc. Have had a nosey at the Cannon D40/60? But want to ensure tis a handy point and shoot as well and this may be over-egging it.

sue Sorry you've had such a testing week - really saps your energy doesn't it. Has DH got over his strop yet? Hope to catch up with you properly next week when I finally wake up.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D
