Asda in Kirkcaldy, Fife was selling 12 cans of Butchers dog food for £2 yesterday - word from DH yesterday was that there was loads left (even after we bought some)
There might also be some Wagg dried food 12.5 k for £2.50 left but this was going fast.

DH 'only' bought 4 trays of the tinned dog food in case the dogs wanted a change......

Away to make up a menu to let the dogs choose their flavours for their dinner now

Tesco own brand dog food now 79p a tin (1.25 kg). Thank goodness dog food has started to come down again. I have one dog, 2 cats, 3 hens. Classic cat food, already mentioned, has stayed the most reasonable throughout the credit crunch at all of the supermarkets while other prices have shot up.. Unfortunately I don't have Asda, Tesco or Sainsbury's anywhere near me, other than the expensive small ones, only Morrisons, whose own brand large cans of dog food have been over a pound for a while - and I'm not paying that. Hopefully it'll come down soon. I'll just stock up at Tesco's/Netto if I'm ever near.

I also mentioned somewhere else that Netto's own dog food is also 79p - same size.

excellent idea. I have 2x adult cats and 4x 12 day old kittens that I am hand feeding as mom got sick and is now on antibiotics. I also feed two strays (called the spare cats), one was injured so I paid for his vet fees and he just started coming for brakfast & dinner and now has a hut in the garden, the other just started turning up - perhaps word got out that i was giving away free food

as a consequence it can be rather expensive!!

the approved food website often has cat food offers - usually felix roasted pouches and Sheba - they are out of their best before date but my cats do not seem to have a problem with this at all (my tom is soo fussy, will only eat dry whiskas biscuits but he loves the sheba) - it was really really cheap - £1.50 a pack or tray

Asda's Tiger select foil tray (100g) box of 12, is £1, but going through the self scan at 50p, so I bought 12 boxes....

I believe working dog food is cheaper cos there's no vat or some such deal. If you don't exercise your dog well it could put on a lot of weight with this food, good value though it is. I find it best to mix with other food, mine likes any old cheapo tinned food. That way you don't have a hyper dog, jumping around longing to chase sheep, when you need it to be calm cos you have to go to work. The other thing is you don't need to feed nearly as much if you do it this way, active working farm dogs don't eat that much really surprisingly.
