  • I was tailgated on the M62 for 14 miles by some silly cow in a 206 a few weeks ago. I was in a Vectra estate and she was detirmined to get passed me! She must have been 20 ft behind me all the way. This was at 75-80mph in lane 3. She went into lane 2 to try to sneak past to get onto the M60 ringroad and then indicated at the side of me and started to change lane as if it was my fault. So she got a blast of the horn, two fingers and got blocked for another 12 miles :)

Not only should you have your license revoked, you should have your hands and feet chopped off just to be doubly sure nobody has to suffer your garbage and dangerous driving ever again.

Do not usually enter into these slagging matches but thought i might add my experience. I drive about 30-40K a year so feel i have a lot of first hand experience about my own conclusion. Firstly i drive a Nissan Patrol as i find it very comfy and can eat the miles as long as your not in too big a hurry it will sit at 80-85 all day. Now the patrol is a very large car, especially with 35" wheels and a 2" lift. I am amazed at the amount of cars who tailgate me, firstly there is no way they can see in front of me, they have no way of predicting if i am going to brake or not, that kinda tells me they are not really that clever. So who are the worst offenders, all sorts of cars are, from the most ridiculous to the obvious. But overall the king of the cocks on the road are indeed Audis, most are rep mobiles, can normally tell from the plate most are leased, but more dangerous are the idioyts who have the 3-4 year old one, they slap 99 pound down and xxxx a month and think they own a super car, again not very clever individuals. Followed closely by BMW's with the same traits as Audis, ie leased etc. But one other thing annoys me people take an instant dislike to a big 4x4. Again only from my observation the most common car i see getting picked up from the side of the road is VW. Having driven all the above cars as a company car i really do not see why some Audi/BMW drivers feel that special apart from a few top models they really are mediocre cars, many other cars are just as good if not better. They are not really that reliable they wallow about the mid end of the reliability charts. But each to their own but remember all sorts of drivers do it, maybe its just with easy finance every sixth car you see is a Audi/Bmw makes the problem appear worse.

overlander, and anyone else who finds themselves constantly being tailgated - when it next happens, ask yourself, 'why?'. Maybe they're wrong, but maybe you're in the outside lane when the inside lane is empty...

Are you a small person? Or just small in mind? What's the point having such a massive car if you're not even going to use it what it's built for?

Does it really matter what she uses the car for? or any of yours or anyone else's business, the roads in this country are pretty dire, you need a 4x4 just to climb out of some of the potholes around here

Whenever i hear/read anti 4x4s I get the urge to buy one, but I want a fast one, so will continue saving my dosh to get either a G Class AMG merc or a Cayenne Turbo and no I wouldnt go off road in it.

Valid point but i think it is more down to the miles i do, i tend to see it more. I am aware that the patrol can be slow accelerating so i try to stay in the inside lane but apart from that i just think i see it because of the miles i do.

Fair neough, my mum has a cayene turbo, and only uses it for the supermarket run, and in order to go sledging off road last year the parents decided to buy an old knocked about land rover, as they were too worried about damaging the porsche!

Thats an over taking lane, not a driving lane.

Driving in lane 3 is very bad/sloppy/inconsiderate driving.

Why would you want to stop someone overtaking you:confused:

Except on the M62 where the lanes (particularly in the hilly bits) are:

Lane 1. Goods vehicles doing 30.0 mph.
Lane 2. Goods vehicles doing 30.5 mph.
Lane 3. Everyone else doing 85 mph with a fag paper between them.
