Its OK if you know the person well but often people will come back in years to come and sue the person for misadvising. Its must be very dodgy work.My daughter used a FA to get rid of Picture, but it is my niece, and wasn't for personal gain as it cost nothing, and to be honest we would have been lost without her.0 -

Would it matter if somebody was helping us out, isn't that a good thing,

I just could not trust anyone with mine ever again after being taken for a ride by an advisor. Its great if you can. I would just worry "what are they getting out of it" if they are doing it all for "free". They must get something out of it.Then again maybe not! Knowing my luck I'll end up with a shark:eek:
Look at the commissions brokers are making for instance:eek:. They never tell you that one. No-one "works for free" in my eyes. There is always a price to pay. 0 -
Ours gave us better advise than our solicitor, she advised us to move out and go BR!!!!

As for Insurance policies, mortgages and pensions I know they do get a good commission.dialysis,mammamia,honey.beaniebabe,saltyfish,funky,Gumbi,Lian,doogle,oldwulf,pinknico,Halpin,alyson,Barloo,jadone,demir,netabc,chickpee,dannyboy,tomgaskel,Lozza001,sandzb,di,marshallka,pengi,lynnie,busbyh,moggy,Kim66,honestbob,tobione,itdonk,arrongborne,thunders,newtonchang,mbones,showergirl, coffeetower,hayston,sappy,dolallytap,AuntieDeedee0 -
If someone is helping you out that is good. I don't mean that. I just mean financial advisors must get something out of it. You yourself were on about commissions today and posted with angry tags when you thought about it. We did not know anything about these did we until the SAR?? It was only then that we got to know that these people that say "they are helping you out" were actually sharking you in another way.Would it matter if somebody was helping us out, isn't that a good thing,

Great that if you have someone helping you. Its nice to be able to trust and yours is someone you know too. Its those that you don't know that you have to worry about.0 -
