Hi,
I have recently discovered this cheese from asda. I think it's tastier than sainsbo's basic hard cheese, it's just a bit on the hard side. It's £2 for 200g. You can find it in the continental cheese display bit.
Castello Alp Selection Hirten
Hope this link works http://groceries.asda.com/asda-webstore/landing/home.shtml?cmpid=ahc-_-ghs-_-asdacom-dsk-_-hp-_-start_shopping_title#/product/910001154213
Hope this helps out. 0 -
Have you tried making a dairy-free risotto? I'm lactose intolerant, so experiment quite a bit with recipes. A favourite is red wine and chestnut.
I don't put dairy in at home. It's red wine, lots of finely chopped veg like celery, onion, carrots, mushroom, courgette, marrow or squash, tomatoes, a bit of green if available, a good stock, some cashew nuts. yum yum.
I freeze excess in portions and take to work.0 -
All the stockists of what was once stated as vegetarian suitable hard cheese have now stated it's not. I suspect that it may never have been suitable. What would be new in the 'cheese is suitable for lacto-vegetarians' mindset? I try very hard to buy cheese without stomach rennet, but it's getting difficult in this product range. Gran Moravia may be a possibility but it's really hard to find.:mad:0

Had an email from 'Bookhams' to say Twineham Grange/pasta cheese etc is now back to being called Twineham Grange. Wonder if it will now reappear in Waitrose??0

Tesco's are selling their value italian style hard cheese again and it's still vegetarian and what's better still it's 3 for 2.
Hope it will make someone happy. 0
