The cheapest Parmesan-style cheese I've found is from Sainsbury's, but there isn't a big one near me, so I'd have to order it for delivery and if you spend less than £40 the delivery charge is £6.
Any other veggies have a better solution?
I just use [veggie] strong mature cheddar. What are you using it for?
*I gave up trying to find veggie parmesan type cheeses about 28 years ago, have used strong veggie cheddar since then and no recipes were hurt during those 28 years. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

For everyday use I actually prefer parmazano to the non veggie Parmesan cheese in a tub, I just wish they did parmazano based on rice flour instead as I am sensitive to soya xx0

I was just googling around for vegetarian parmesan-style cheese due to noticing this week that the sainsbury's version is no longer vegetarian and thought people here might appreciate that information
I have also checked out the Waitrose website and theirs doesn't seem to be vege-friendly anymore, either

Having used the Sainsbury's grated Italian hard cheese I have to say it's an excellent sub for Parmesan0

I wonder why it's changed.0 -
As with most food changes, I'd imagine the change had something to do with cost and saving (or making more) money. Profits will always come first with companies like these IME.
I hope so as I would hate to think that maybe they discovered that cheese wasnt vegetarian after all :eek:0 -
Is it possible to get vegetarian grana padano? That's pretty much the same as parmesan, only it isn't real proper parmesan. Afraid I don't know offhand if anywhere does it in vegetarian-friendly though.
Edit - Oh, no apparently grana padano is also always made with animal rennet.0
