Paypal Rip Off Help

All I can find is that if you have a personal or premier account you have a balance limit of £1000. However, it seems to simply be a warning rather than an absolute. The T & C's say "There is no limit to the amount of money you may receive with PayPal's Business or Premier accounts." I don't know where the £450 comes from.

There appears to be two different questions here, firstly how to accept a card payment via paypal and as others have said you do need at least a premier account to do that. A basic account is reall yno good for selling on ebay as you can only take payments funded from an existing paypal balance. There is the added complication that as soon as you tick the 'I accept paypal' box on your listing you ar eobliged to take all forms of paypal payment, you cannot refuse to take cards otherwise you are in breach of t and cs.

The next question is about limits, like others I am not at all sure where the £450 limit came from? I take a great deal more than that and have a premier account, not a business account.
To recap, you must upgrade to a premier account to take the payment from your buyer and then unfortunately you will be charged on this and every payment in future. Like others have said make sure you send items over £32 by special delivery to protect yourself.

I hope you didn't sell it on a BIN to a 0 history buyer.....??It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
I agree and concur with Soo here, I have a Premier Account and have no worries about how much I receive or spend.
I know there are risks involved with PayPal but I could not operate on ebay without it. If I sell items of a high value I carry out my own checks on a person; and so far I have never had a chargeback. (Touch wood)
PayPal is also the cost of selling stuff on EBay especially if you are going to sell regularly. All retailers (and sellers on EBay are in effect retailers) pay to accept credit cards, so I really don't see what the problem is, its a cost of selling which should more than cover itself in the long run with higher prices acheived. Ialso add a little to P+P charges to cover some of these costs whilst still trying to maintain a reasonable price for my buyers (usually dictated by other sellers). I also offer 4%-5% discount for Bank transfer (not cheques, they are a real pain)
I for one would not bid (99% of the time anyway) unless a seller took PayPal; in fact I have never paid for anything by any other means apart from CC direct on a few occasions.
I was thinking where would we be without PayPal and even with all its faults I do not think EBay would be the success it is today without PayPal!0
