When should children start using public toilets on their own?

We had cubicles too, tho like yours Beenie, we have now gone all mod and unisex!0

my boys are 14, and the male member of staff waits outside for them, at the end of the day the staff are responsible for the safety of the childrenPolishBigSpender wrote: »And you believe that teachers will escort 8-9 year old children into the toilet?enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -

When I made my point about disabled toilets, most of the posters who talked about using them with children were talking about toddlers and even older childen. As an example "mine were the same i make them all use the disable toilets when in the supermarket and my youngest is 11". That is what I was objecting to particularly!0 -
Is there no cubicles?
At our local pool it's all unisex now, so there's no problems for fathers & daughters, or mothers and sons. There is loads of cubicles though, but even when it was separate i could never understand why people would strip naked outside when they could go into a cubicle
There are some cubicles but most women don't bother. It seems to be only the teenagers who worry about this sort of thing - the rest of us grew up with communal school showers and aren't fussed. I don't know why adult women would want to bother with a cubicle when amongst other women.

This is just ridiculous!
Since when have public toilets been considered places of danger in this way? What do your sons do when they're out on their own?0 -

Well my son is nearly 40 and I was working for vice squad when he was six or seven and I didn't know any parents who worked there who would let their kids go into public loos alone.Sell £1500

I guess they are there for the women who do mind undressing in front of the 8 year old boys allowed in there :rolleyes:Oldernotwiser wrote: »There are some cubicles but most women don't bother. That is quite frankly ridiculous. In fact, it's no surprise that children in the UK are growing up so desperately unhappy if they aren't even trusted to visit a toilet by themselves on a trip!
I remind everyone that most cases of abuse are carried out by a known individual to the child - and this is something that seems to be forgotten. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

Are they?
'Most' being the operative word.
