site is okay, but it doesn't come near the quote from carjet.com( my favourite), I've never had a problem with them and they are always cheap.

A bit belated, but auto europe beats all the quotes this comparison site lists. I have found that by playing them off against Holiday Autos (both offer price matches) I have managed to knock my carhire in France down from auto europe's automated quotation by an additional 10% and it was highly competitive to start with Also, perhaps I was doing something wrong, but this comparison service doesn't give you the opportunity to limit the type of vehicle - ie, we wanted a 5 door with aircon and the final list gave me 2 doors in with 4 doors, with and without aircon - so it's difficult to really compare them anyway

Very interesting....Holiday autos will allegedly 'price-match' anything where they have evidence.

This will be a big bonus for my customers if price on this site is cheaper than hol autos-cheers Martin!

Not sure which "this site" you are referring to. The point I was making is that Martin's site doesn't include auto europe which was the only company I could find cheaper than Holiday Autos. The link is www.auto-europe.co.uk.

Really I suppose I could have gone back to Holiday Autos a second time to ask them to price match again, but decided to leave it. We used them last year and their supplier Citer gave us an ill fitting infant car seat with twisted straps and also took over an hour to give us the keys to our hirecar. With 2 under 5's, at the end of a long day travelling, it was a nightmare! Wrote to them on our return and they begrudgingly refunded the cost of the dodgy carseat, but wouldn't address any of my requests for compensation for inconvenience etc.

Auto europe even price matched holiday autos less the 5% cashback I would have got through booking via their lastminute.com website with my egg card. And they have a freephone number as opposed to HA's cheeky 0870 number!

I have tried the price comparator and all looks weel, until you click on the company that are offering the lowest price.
What I have found is that when I go to the web site to agree the deal the price being stated is for their cheapest car NOT the same car as all the other firms are quoting for.
In my case I was quoted £103 for a Renault Megane but when I got to the site that price was for a smaller car, with two doors and a smaller engine so not a true comparison. The megane with this company was £15 dearer than the next cheapest quote.

If they are running a comparator then that is what it should be like for like.

I have just obtained a quote for 9 days in Majorca. Found that none of the companies were anywhere near Carjet for price! Shows me what a good deal I obtained from Carjet.

The affliliate link doesn't work.

The site isn't too impressive - whilst it's very fast, it reckons that there's an airport called "Crete Airport" whereas in fact there are two, and Heraklion is as well-known as Chania. So I can't book (or check prices) for Heraklion - doh!
