Feedback required - Car Hire Checker

  • I tried and found the site reasonably quick and easy to use. (I tried Malaga Airport which I use frequntly).
The results were quite good but not sufficiently cheaper for me to change my regular supplier, Malaga Car Hire, where I have a "VIP" customer card and all my details are already on computer. hence checking in is exceptionally fast - I am usually away with 2 minutes of arrival at their office. Additionally, no deposit required before arrival.

    Very good checker.

We went to Florida last month and spent ages looking for best car rental deal.

Best i came up with was dollar (via Major Travel) family car, all in £312. The best this site comes up with is £282 from Airline Network.

However, 2 major differences. My car was airport pickup whereas this sites was from Holiday Inn on I-Drive (i.e. 5/6 miles away. Also, mine included full tank of petrol whereas on this site it was £15 extra.

Conclusion, good site but watch the detail as the cheaper deals may have catches.

    Hi

We are going to Hungary in June and are looking for car hire.

Unfortunatelly Hungary does not seem to be on the checker.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
  • I didn't have any problems getting the site to work - it was quick. The prices weren't as good as I'd seen preiously on other sites though.
  • Painful when looking for a people carrier, you check the appropriate box, are given a quote which is for a 5 person car, not a 'Zafira' or similar which hold 6/7.

  • Just a quick note on car hire. I have in recent months spent many happy hours trawling car hire sites for short european hires - including so-called supermarkets. This is by far the best I have come across. I have only perused it, not booked. But it is super user-friendly to get quotes from all the main suppliers in minutes (well, I type slowly!) - with the most important details at-a-glance.
I don't need to book next trip for another couple of weeks, so will let you know if any glitches emerge then.
    So far so good!
  • So why doesn't this work for me? It starts it's search then says its busy and counts down 10secs, and another, and another............zzzzzzz.........for ever! I've tried 3 times in last few days. Help!
  • I too keep getting the message 'due to high volumes of traffic etc''
But for anyone flying to Malaga airport, Malaga Car Hire will be hard to beat. https://www.malagacarhire.com
They have always been the best and cheapest for us.
Payment is made in sterling when you arrive to collect your car and there are no extras to pay.
Plus we've always had an upgrade.
The staff are very efficient too.
I say what I like, I like what I say!
  • On US trips I tend to use either 4X4 or convertible. uk-carhire-company have consistently offered best price (also true on a recent trip to Italy)

However, for no good reason other than to test the resolve of holiday autos (I have a thing about companies that allege they shop around for the lowest price but clearly don't), I've recently used the former's price to beat down the latter.

Travelsupermarket seem to be doing the same thing, but without the guarantee. Also, having just looked for a LA rental in June, not only do uk-carhire-company again offer the best price against travelsupermarket, but I see their cars are larger! I've also checked this against 4X4 and family size saloon and the result is the same, eg med Suzuki v full size Jeep.

Travelsupermarket might have some use but it seems nothing out there can replace personal research to ensure best value.
