Ceridwen, I have just read a post on another thread by the E.ON rep who says you don't have to submit meter readings even if you have an online account. They have a duty to send a meter reader to your property anyway.
As all the others have said, don't risk the cancellation fee. Ring SP now and get them to put you on the standard tariff.0 -
Is it so bad to stay with SP? In the last year with them My monthly payments have dropped from £101 per month to £50.50 & I'm £249 in credit atm.
BTW I read my own meter readings0 -

I used the comparison sites, but decided to stay put. I've had very little problem with them in the 7.5 years I've been using them, and really don't need the hassle of bedding in with a new company at the moment. But I didn't let them move me over the the capped tariff - I phoned and got them to move me onto the Online Energy Saver 6 instead.
I'm also in a position where my payments have vastly reduced (by £15.50/month) and my credit balance increased (by around £70) in the last 12 months - but this is (probably mostly) due to a drop in permanent household of one person last November.Cheryl0 -
Hi ceridwen - it would be best to either phone Scottish Power or PM Craig, the Scots Power Rep on this board, to change you to standard tariff rather than capped (it costs the same at the moment whichever you are on) to make sure you are safely off the capped tariff by the end of September, as it is easier to do this than risk having to argue later.
Hi
Thanks for that - I've contacted Craig and he got straight on to it and has duly arranged for me to swop to the standard tariff. He says I wouldnt have incurred a penalty anyway - but I've avoided the risk of arguments with S.P. employees who think I would do. Anyway - this way my path is all "smooth and clear" to moving over to my new company and I dont have to worry myself that if they dont deal with things at the dates they said that they would land me with arguments with S.P. employees.
Obviously - I shall monitor that eon DOES move me over at the dates promised anyway - so that I get cheaper fuel as soon as possible...0 -
