Need to Sort out my Internet - Help Please

Hi Guys, Virgin sent someone ever today to sort out my broadband connection (the one that does not require a landline), but he said that he cant do it because the cable does not reach my basement flat. So basically, I have to get a new internet connection. I currently do not have any landline in my home, but there is a connection for one. Now I have to get a broadband package with a landline telephone. Please tell me what would be my cheapest option? I would preffer unlimited monthly downloads, but could settle for 10GB.
Please help chaps!

what options are available on your exchange: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php
do you have a mobile phone if so which network?
do you want/have sky tv or anything like that?0 -
I entered my postcode & got the following - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/WEWLOR
I have an Orange monthly mobile phone contract. I also have a flatmate & we will be sharing the internet via a wireless router (I will need this to be provided as well). I dont have sky & dont want it. My building does not support Digital TV.0 -
You will need a landline telephone - look on the home phones section here you might be able to get free connection with BT (they have offers on usually) otherwise the Post Office is good too.
The best internet available on your exchange is O2 / Be (both same company)
http://broadband.o2.co.uk/home/index.jsp you can get basic package for £12.23 and free for 2 months and cashback from quidco plus £5 a month if you attach an O2 mobile to it (doesn't have to be yours) (unlimited downloads/no throttling)
otherwise: you could get orange http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/starter which might be free with your mobile phone plan (10GB limit)
also have a look at the other LLU providers to see if their plan suits you - don't go with BT for internet!!0 -

Think you meant to say £5 a month discount. With that it's £7.34pm, 1st 2 months free and £50 Quidco cashback. By far the best option on your exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for all the responses. I should have mentioned that my flatmate has an O2 mobile contract. Will this work out in our benefit?0

Yes, as long as your flatmate is happy for that number to be registered in order to get the discount. It doesn't have to be in the broadband account holder's name. If it's PAYG then it needs to be topped up by £10 every quarter to maintain the discount. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

but you have to ask the CS specifically to get it.
I have an Orange monthly mobile phone contract. I. I should have mentioned that my flatmate has an O2 mobile contract. Will this work out in our benefit?
If you want to stay at the flat for a duration of equal to or less than your orange contract, go for orange b/b. Its free for contract phone holders and runs till your mobile contract. After that, it's £9.79. You can choose to cancel it anytime while in contract. After that, charges rise to £9.79 and is 1month rolling contract.
O2 b/b needs o2 phone connection to be eligible for discounts otherwise it's £12.23
Also, o2 binds you in the 12 months contract. If you move more than once in the contract or cancel with o2, there are cancellation charges.
Hope this helps.

But Orange 'free broadband' only applies if you are on an Orange LLU exchange. Otherwise it's an extra £80pm. And it's capped to 10GBpm.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
