The Telegraph/Waitrose deal sounds good - I've at least bought my Christmas cards for this year, and I have vague ideas about spicing them up a little by doing some ..... decoupage, is that what it is?....... a friend of mine trained as a graphic artist often does it, anyway, cutting pictures out with a craft knife and putting them with another pic in unexpected ways. Some of the results are fascinating. I'm aiming for Jean Luc Picard in a Santa hat.........

Yes I think that's decoupage... Jean Luc Picard in a Santa hat is fab :rotfl:

Here I am rs, with this:[couldn't find where you said a beetyrooty word]

    http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/573361

I've also done mix as muffins and they are ootw, esp with the ganache.
    It's another Die-For.

Apologies if I'm jumping in where shouldn't BUT, re: Chrimbo/mugs/ etc.
I'm using the Mr T 200 points offers in the Photo Shop leaflets.

    See here: www.tesco.com/photo

There are 3, for Oct, Nov and Dec.
200 points is £8 in deals, against the £10 min spend = for me, for fellow Charity workers, 3 photo mugs @ 3.43 each.

I'm happy with this[as I no longer 'do' Chrimbo Conventional.]

You can do calenders, tablemats, coasters, mousemats etc.etc.

    Worth a look, I think.

Good to see you on here Ampersand ;)

Yum, that sounds lovely - cream cheese icing is so good!

Tesco thing looks good, although I'm finished Christmas shopping now, but must remember to keep an eye on them for deals in the future.

  • Where did the weekend go?

Saturday was spent mostly visiting supermarkets and getting stuck in traffic jams, but on the good side did get a £10 slow cooker from Tesco, and their Dine for 2 for £9 offer which included some loooovely wine :) Sunday, made soup in slow cooker, tidied up Mr Squizz's garden - I was let loose with the secateurs hehe - and went for a very windy rainy 6 mile run. So cold, my legs were bright red when I got in and soo itchy!

Payday today, have entered Kilomathon race and bought the last bit of Mr Squizz's birthday pressie which was a bottle of vintage wine the same age as him - was going to get a £20 small bottle but then spotted a bottle of a kind of red we had in Italy earlier in the year (which we were talking about the other day)...
From the good 1969 vintage, Very typical with notes of stemmy herbs, strawberry and peach tones and top notes of nettles, dried lemon zest and flowers. Light nuances of caramel and old leather reveal the age. In the mouth the attack was dominated by sweet liquorice tones which yielded to subtle, acid-driven fruit on the mid-palate. Hints of herb and tar. Superb! Ready for drinking now but will keep to about 2011
...reduced from £79 to £49 and with a fiver off voucher too.. still I hope it's nice.. I must be mad :rotfl:

Need to wrap Christmas pressies this week as my mum is coming to visit on Thursday and I need to give her theirs to take home with her. 29 days till Venice... :)

Oh and debt payments come out today - new totals in sig :j

Tesco was awful, they've given far too much space to Christmas stuff and there was a real lack of proper food!

Their £9 meal thing is good though, really nice food and the bottle of wine in itself was normally £9. Although we were commenting that we wouldn't normally spend £9 on a bottle of wine. And I've just spent £50 on one... I think I'm in shock :rotfl:

  • Right, it's going to be a budget month, well actually not a whole month as we get paid early before Christmas. Budget from now until 17th Dec is £150.

  • Morning! Last night was spent wrapping Christmas pressies, whilst listening to the radio and watching Life of Brian :D Did a bit of food shopping too in preparation for my mum coming on Thursday.

Chatted to parents too, my dad's dad is very ill - in hospital and probably won't come out again, he is nearly 90 - good to talk to my dad about how he felt about it, his family are... difficult, and he is struggling a bit with the relationships between them at a time like this.

Felt very sniffly and coughing lots this morning but made myself go out for a run, very soggy and lots of nose blowing but feel better for it.

And the £50 wine has just arrived - very impressed with the service! The bottle looks 40 years old :rotfl:

Morning Squizz, you are super organised I am impressed and inspired me to get with it tonight!

well done you for having a chat to your dad, I think being honest and open about family relationships is very very difficult. I have a very complicated family and although I am the one who talks to everybody there are some very strained relationships!
