The cable car trip to the Golden Buddha is fabulous. Don't bother with the Buddha Experience tourist trap village but after seeing the Buddha take a walk along the Wisdom Path.0

Raja Fashions: Having bought 2 excellent suits from them a few years back, the 3 that I bought in late 2008 have literally fallen apart at the seams. Quality has taken a dive here. In reply to my email complaint, they said I should ask for "rugged construction" next time, with no suggestion of a remedy.Counting_Pennies wrote: »Following on from my previous reply and just reading yours, I think the hotel we stayed in was on Nathan Road as well.
From memory our hotel (can't remember its name, although having done a bit of a search it might be the Novotel) had a walkway from the hotel over to the star ferry, with a small amount of shops.
In that area there really aren't that many great places to go at night. I found crossing on the Star ferry for suit making and photo taking at night was all we did. We had meals in our hotel.
As you have a little more time there, I would recommend going to get a suit made, if you go as soon as you arrive and tell them how short of time you are I am sure they will achieve it for you. My husband got 3 suits and 5 shirts tailor made to him, and they still fit beautifully five years on.
They also travel around the UK doing a similar service and posting the suits to you, although that is the more expensive way of doing it. You might find you can go to their travelling roadshow and be measured, and then take the measurements with you to Hong Kong and pay using local currency there. Remember to haggle with them in the shop, they only do a little adjustment to the price, but worth it.0 -
Just be careful if you're not good with heights - the cable car ride up to the Buddha is interesting!!! :j Well worth it though.!0

According to this it only costs $225. So it is of great value compared with the Airport Express (HKD100 per person per single trip). However, beware of the HK taxi drivers, they tend to charge the tourists more than they should, although some (like 3 out of 10) of them are really nice!

A taxi from the airport to Tsim Sha Tsui is only around HK$350 and works out cheaper than train/bus if there's more than 2 of you.SwitchyChick wrote: »Great tip - thanks for that!

Cheaper than the bus? not sure what bus you were talking about (maybe the expensive hotel buses?) but.....
I just got back from Hong Kong. You can take the A21 airport bus for HKD 33 per person. They run various routes, particularly Nathan Road and Tsim Sha Shui
.
As for hotel recommendations (if anyone is interested), we stayed at the City View just by Nathan Road (but not on the road itself) so pretty quiet. Close to the markets (Jade, Mongkok, Ladies Mkt etc) and airport bus, and a couple mins walk to the subway. Decent sized room, excellent service.
Very reasonably priced too HKD 1452 for 3 nights (about 40 quid). Make sure you use asiatravel.com (as we did) or possibly Agoda etc to get the discounted rates.

One tip is, if you use the bus, they don't give change so make sure you have lots of small coins....or even better buy an Octopus card (bus/subway) and then get it refunded for any unused money.
If you have more time by the way, go to Macau for a day trip or 1 night
