PS: Redbedhead - have you moved? We moved two weeks ago... finally!!
    We still haven't moved!

The 1st house fell through and we finally found a 2nd. Thought - fantastic - it is empty and they want a quick sale, set a date of 8 weeks. Except their solicitor isn't fantastic and it took him until 8 weeks just to get a draft contract out:mad:

Current date is set as mid October.........

    Hope your move went well

Can anyone recommend a gym with a pool that is not over priced, but not grotty please!!
Bannatynes (used to be Living Well) is about £44. It has a pool but I find the pool a bit warm.

I am with David Lloyd, which is overpriced and with bad customer service so I would never recommend there (I am handing in my notice with them shortly - 3 months notice!)

If you have no joy with a Guide Dog you could try a P.A.T Dog. These are dogs that are taken into places to help comfort and sooth people.

    Some info here http://www.petsastherapy.org/

I've been shopping in and around Milton Keynes today for hardware as I am house sitting a house that is being updated for letting. I have to say I was shocked at some of the prices, when did it get so expensive or am I just used to London prices being cheaper

I needed 7 sq metres of basic tiles for a kitchen and bathroom..in London I would expect to pay around £8 a sq metre for good basic tiles..using my builders discount card I ended up paying £178 in Tile depot near the town centre. I was so shocked at the prices I actually asked them to recalculate it!! I was stuck for time as the builder was making very fast progress and as I had no internet connection i couldn't even come on here and ask for tips..I did try Wickes but they didn't have sufficient of the right size in stock. For future reference are there any large warehouse type places near the town centre for hardware type products?

I know B and Q but wouldn't go within a mile of them as they let me down when I originally tried to get the bathroom and kitchen fitted and ended up refunding my deposit as they couldn't manage the job. There must be somewhere else though as I still need carpeting, flooring and things like wallpaper and paint. Any suggestions would be welcome thank you.

  • There is a Dulux trade centre in Bletchley, but I've never been there... if you want some standard trade-y paint that'd be the best place.

I'm afraid that I can't help out with regards to wallpaper, etc.

Tiles: I've just been down to Topps Tiles this evening to buy 5sqm for my kitchen... I ended up with 500 10x10s and paid £130... That was the cheapest I found!

I'm desperately searching for somewhere to buy appliances from - I need an integrated extractor fan and a black gas on glass hob: I've been let down by an online retailer and have less than a week to sort them out!!

Can anyone suggest somewhere where I can buy appliances from? Not B&Q, Wickes, Homebase etc...... I was wondering if there was a little place tucked in the likes of Newport or Stony... that sort of thing.

IndieGirl, I lnow buy my appliances from Empire Direct http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/ ..they deliver for a small charge and their communication is very good. I'm picking up a gas hob on Wednesday for my own home and next week I have a cooker being delivered to Milton keynes and a washing machine to my own property. Money back via Quidco and 3 years warranty on all goods over £200 if you have an empre card (costs £20).

Like you I was desperate to get stuff in, but found that shops would actually misrepresent their stock just to get a sale, telling me something was available for delivery or collection when they clearly had none available (B and Q again). I think the problem is that with so much choice retaliers just can't stock everything and tend to rely on warehouses which just delays everything.

  • I have used B&J Skip Hire on 3 (!) occasions. They are brilliant. Really informative and helpful if you aren't quite sure what size you need! They can normally deliver on the same day, are always on time and are very reasonably priced. 01908 587629

I've been going to Virgin in thw Xscape for the past 18 months and love it. It's a bit pricey at £41 per month but it has a great gym, horizontal climbing wall, lovely pool (with seperate baby pool) and sauna, steam room and spa. The staff are always helpful and it's always clean and warm. Unlike Bletchley leisure centre which is a horrible, horrible dive. Oh, and you can use any Virgin gym around the country too, so if you go away you can still get your health kick! Btw I don't work for them lol:rotfl:
My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely
