I'm just stopping in on my free night between holiday breaks (woohoo and yes I should be in bed!).
Righty ho. I'm going to be in on this. I think I'm sorted for winter with my new purchase in the sales of my cardigan and my jumper.
I don't think I need anything new for a long time. DH doesn't need anything but I can't stop him buying stuff. DD is OK for now but DS has just shot up again sohe'll need new clothes. Because of the ages of the childlings and DH's obsession, I'm making this a just me challenge. Here goes!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Elmer and kaz, welcome on board. I don't doubt for one second it will be tough and i'm okay for a few months as i have a few new purchases from the summer sales. My time i will struggle will be around January, i'm fed up and looking for newish stuff to cheer me up. I think what i'm going to do is ask dh and mum and sis to put what they would spend on a gift card and i will keep it untill the January sales.
Although i am trying to cut down on buying the kids clothes too, i too think that at some point they will need clothes. DD is going through a growth spurt at the rate of naughts, but i am going to use her family allowance (cheers floss) for what she needs. My son's should be okay (except for shoes) so i will just play it by ear where the kids are concerned. DD has A LOT of stuff to be ebayed (all really good condition, next, gap, monsoon etc but she needs new ballet shoes so i will use the proceeds of the clothes sale to get those sorted.
So it's the five of us then, debiedoodle, kaz, elmer and myself. Katieclampet mentioned a budjet so she too is on board. I plan to be as ingenius as poss in finding ways to get my 'fix'
Going on holiday on Thursday and everything is packed. I have took all my winter stuff out from storage and hung it all up, ready for when i come home. Feels very autummy here today and i am full of cold.
Speak soon sharronxxxxxxSometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0 -
Hi all,
I have been looking through my wardrobe, and have decided to go for a "No buying new clothes until 2010" challenge. I'm not sure I can manage a whole year, so will start of gently! I have decided that "new shops" are off limits, but buying essentials from carboot sales or charity shops is ok.
I am going to a wedding this saturday, and instead of buying anything new have matched up a lovely (mostly) unworn outfit, and borrowed a lovely bag from a friend. The last wedding I went to, I bought a whole new outfit (cost a fortune) and never wore it again.
On a similar note, I am also going to use up all those gift sets, toiletries, bath/shower goodies, shampoos, conditioners etc that I have stockpiled, and not buy anymore until used up.
So count me in (hope my rules are ok!)

i think you are very good Sharron to try to do this. i am not going to be able to do it but will think about selling stuff on ebay and trying to be sensible about my clothes buying. i think it has alot to do with boredom and disatisfaction with life.
my teenage girls go through my money as well for their social lives and clothes.0 -
:jYAY katie, welcome aboard!!!!!!! I rundown my stockpile of toiltries about 18 months ago. I am only just stating to 'need' things now. For the last 18 months i have only bought 1 Liz earle c&p, 1 tub of moisturiser, and a new lipstick and foundation. I used to have a three drawer chest of drawers FULL of toilitries and make-up. I've got it down to one:T
Your 'rules' sound great, like the sound of reusing an outfit for a wedding. I think we are preconditioned (well i am) that when an occasion comes up we need to get a new outfit.
Anyone else?????

Wow cant believe that you are going to do this, I am going to watch though., I wish I could join in but I need to buy work clothes and winter clothes, I have none, well that is a bit of a cop out, none i like or will wear this winter!
I have cut down so much on buying clothes as of my wedding at the begining of the month, though I have decided to stick to this and like you get some staple pieces.
Good Luck xLoves Vegas shopping and beauty products!0 -
Thanks for letting me on board,
I promise to try my best and not buy any clothes, although I am finding the thought of deleting all the stuff on my ebay watch list just too painful to contemplate at the mo.
I think I will just stay away and hopefully they will all end without me putting in a bid, although the amount I can afford to bid at the moment would probably make it unlikely that I would win anyway.
I really admire you Sharron for commiting to a whole year, even a few months feels very scary.

Good luck Sharron, I'm doing the £100 Clothes challenge and it's tough enough! I will watch with interest. Hadn't thought about using Tesco CC tokens for clothes but will do now- hurrah, new clothes here I come!!!!!!!!!:jGC/Aug2009 296 spent/300. GC/Sept2009 62/300. £100 Clothes Challenge 100/780

Well I have returned from my shopping expedition with DD and I have not spent a penny on clothes, I am so pleased :j with myself as normally I would have bought loads. I did purchase some Ruby & Millie foundation sponges for £1.00 as I had a voucher for £5.00 very :money:. Bypassed two of my favourite stores L'Occitane and Molton Brown as I do not need any more toiletries, my stockpile  is huge and needs to be used up.0

I am so in!! At least until I lose all the weight I want to and have to buy some new clothes to save pants falling down embarrassment!!:rotfl:
I will also be using up my stockpile of toiletries as my lovely OH keeps balking at the amount I have on my drawers, and in my drawers, and in boxes.... hmm.:o
It also means that all the money I would spend on clothes and toiletries can go onto my holiday now!!:T:DIf I am laughing, then I don't understand!!
New Year New Me Challenge
