Welcome to the club, Sharron! I'm way ahead of you on the not-buying-clothes-for a year-challenge. Well, sort of: I haven't bought a stitch of NEW clothes for nearly four years now, except for undies and hosiery. Any items new to me have been BNWT or second-hand on ebay, bought for a song. And I have to say that I'm an awful lot happier now that I seem to have lost the bug for clothes-shop browsing, it's amazing to me just how little a person actually NEEDS in order to have a half-decent wardrobe. Most of the time I'm better dressed than my work-colleagues who appear to shop non-stop0

Good luck sharron. I think its a great idea & a fab challenge, but not sure I could manage! I think I saw spend £100 per year on clothes thread, and I thought that was tough! Will follow your progress with interest, and might consider giving myself a "yearly budget", and see how that goes.

Love that suggestion grammer girl. My good friend and neighbour can dress make although she doesn't, i'm going to borrow her books and see if i can. Going to look up a evening class at local comp, Thanks so much for that. Yes tara walking and a new skinny me is what i plan for august 2010!!!
Bitterandtwisted, i take a bow to you!! Proof that it's not what you've got, it's what you do with it
debiedoodle, i have stuff that also needs shortning, that's on my list to keep my wardrobe fresh.
Katie, that's a good idea,(something i never managed lol) to have a budjet, what do you think it would be??
Been very busy today. We go on holiday on thursday so been cleaning, packing, organising etc so not had much thought of going shopping. My ebay finishes this evening so i should have some money to 'spend'.

Hi sharron,
Not sure how much a yearly clothes budget would be. I'll think about it and get back to you!

gg, well done on the car boot sale!!!! We usually do about two a year. All the proceeds go towards our family holiday. I did try selling some of my clothes but found people didn't want to pay more than 50p per item.
Tara £60 a month is really good, i think i may have (in the past) blown on 1 pair of shoes!!
Today i have to report a new sundress and a pair of flat gold flip flops. SHOCK HORROR, but no, i doubled my clubcard voucher from £5 to £10 and bought a dress. It's blue with polka dots in a lovely cool fabric. Going to wear it to travel in on Thursday with leggins and a cotton cardy that i can take off once i arrive.
I bought the flat sandles from new look with the proceeds from a top that a friend bought from me (£5) so i'm really pleased with my two 'free' purchases!!

Hi could I join on a month by month basis please?
I will be fine this month as I took my DD age 16 to Primark and New Look on Saturday and spent £180.00:eek: So I have no money till the middle of next month even for food etc, however that will help the diet. Admittedly some of it was new school uniform, and I am pleased that she is going back to school.
So this month is taken care of, and I can probably manage next as well then the Xmas pressie buying starts, so that will take up several months of spare cash, so hopefully I can last until December.
But by then I may be weakening, and I have a holiday coming up too, which may prove tricky, although in reality I have way too many clothes and also have friends my size who equally have too many as well, so perhaps a bit of swapping and borrowing is all thats needed.
I just need a bit of support for the cold turkey days
Thanks Elmer xx0 -
Sharon well done on the free purchases.
Welcome aboard Elmer, I also have way too much stuff that I do not wear as for work I have a uniform. I am at present sorting my wardrobe and will be ebaying some bits aand altering/shortening other items (see post 50).
Tomorrow will be tough as DD and I are going to Exeter shopping, I must be strong as I do not need anything.
