Penny Pincher: Hope you are feeling better soon (((hug))). I know what you mean about worrying your mum, but she would be more upset if she found out afterwards that you hadn't told her. Make sure you rest and look after yourself xxx0

We have quite a few courgettes to use up and I have a good soup recipe but there is only so much soup we can eat so I'll be looking for other recipes today.
Another recipe we use courgette in are rostis ... we grate the courgette along with the potato ... squeeze out the moisture ... sometime mix with just butter and salt and pepper ... sometimes add some spices like curry powder etcmake into burger shapes and fry or spread out on a baking sheet oven cook then grill
nice with a poached egg

Hi peeps,
Fairy elephant - the cat & potato story really made me chucklei shall be thinking about that one all day. The worst thing that one of our previous cats used to bring in was worms  she would sit for ages and watch them before i scooped them up and threw them back outside, why she couldn`t just watch them outdoors i shall never know.
Pen Pin - Aw sorry to hear that you have swine flu, lots of my friends have had it and its really horrible, hope that you recover soon. A guy at work has had all his family poorly with it but remarkably he never caught it from them.
Chickadee  Mrs Mcawber has a lovely courgette teabread recipe posted about somewhere, i think its on the recipe index for the grocery challenge.
I`ve just scrubbed the living room light fitting and i`m really pleased with it, it looks brand new and i`m sure the room will seem brighter now that all the blbs and shades have been washed.
Back later guys.

Good afternooon everyone. Big ((((((((hugs)))))))))) to everyone in need of them.
Been slaving over the cooker this morning, producing the following:
5 litres of chicken stock from yesterday's carcass
Roasted Med vegetable soup from fridge/freezer oddments (had some for lunch - lovely)
Big dish of chicken, vegetable and potato crumble (from fridge/freezer oddments again) - should do for 6 portions if I pack it away before DH sees it.
1 smashed Pyrex casserole dish (boo hiss)
It's gorgeous outside, so I'd better get the washing sorted out fairly sharpish before I haunt the charity shops for a replacement Pyrex casserole dish.
Little cat's antics sound like the elder mog belonging to my fairy goddaughter's mum. Fergus seems to be vegetarian, as all he's ever brought in are veg peelings and cabbage leaves!Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH

Likewise Hilstep, sorry to read that you've got shingles.
Take care of yourselves, both of you.
Little canine guest has appropriated the sofa for her very own! She's a sweet little lass, but quite hard work; being blind, I have to watch that she doesn't walk into things and hurt herself. She seems to have the route from the back door, through the kitchen, to the lounge sussed out, though.
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all,
Happy birthday Tired Mum:bdaycake:hope you enjoy every minute.
Hilstep....sorry to hear about shingles, I currently have a huge coldsore, which is of the same family I think and find that Lysine helps, although if you are on meds from your doctor might be wise to check with him/her.
PenPin....you really could have done without SF....take it easy, I hope you recover quickly.
Have had no lunch yet, thought I might get away with just some fruit, doesn't look like it as I am feeling hungry now...have enough blubber to feed me for a year but it doesn't seem to work that way!
DD4 is making curry for dinner, have some cooked chicken in freezer, want to make some crusty bread to have with it....better get on now.
Hugs to all who are in need or one for whatever reason, welcome to newbies, get well soon all who are ill and come back soon all who are missing in action.

hester I watched the future of food- very interesting makes you realise the cost implications to the pocket and to the planet.
it was interesting that they analysed a highly processed diet ( iceland lasagne baked beans and potato waffles) and a diet made from fresh produce and cooked from scratch. not surprisingly they found the latter is much better for health ( well we all know that) the processed foods were alarmingly high in palm oil and salts/ sugars
I would be very interested in your costings of a homemade lasagne would you post the results on here?0
