Good ...OH reckons we cannot afford to go to the rugby this season (costs £60 a match for 2 adults and 2 kids -other kid doesn't want to go):( Looks like I'm going to have to cut down on the food and household spending, yes, and the cookbook buying:eek: I really love going to the rugby, i've been looking forward to it all summer. Think I might have to joiin the Grocery Challenge.

We have season tickets for Sale Sharks, and had to think hard about renewing them....we did so in the end, but only because we got an early-bird discount. I think we may be a bit isolated on our row, as our neighbours on 1 side were downgrading due to redundancy, and the elderly neighbours on the other side were quite poorly all season so I don't know if they will be back  The only thing is that because it's the upper tier of the big stand, it gets quite chilly, and I liked having neighbours to absorb some of the cold wind :o:p;)

Sale are in the same group as Quins for the Heineken Cup...shall be keeping an eye on the sports news about that one ;) Hope you can work something out.

Our littlest cat (who has special needs) caught a baby mouse lastnight and the only way we could get him to drop it was to squirt him with water ... let him out this morning to play with his sister and he went and found it again and brought it back in to put in my shoe :( didn't think cats picked up dead animals but he does  he has been squirted again and is now left outside with cat flap locked which he hates!

LOL at little cat! Some of them do go for dead things, and some even stranger stuff.....one of my old ones, sadly no longer with us, used to bring in lots of odd things (mouldy bread, shoelaces, dead flowers....) but one of the funniest was when I heard him really struggling with the cat-flap....went out to the kitchen and found that he had managed to bring in....a jacket potato, warm, with foil around it and dripping with butter!!!!! I never got the nerve to ask my neighbours which of them had lost their lunch..........

Thriftlady: which rugby team do you support? We are Scarlets fans in this house, although we only tend to go to watch internationals.

We're SAAAYYYUUULLLL fans up here, I think Thriftlady is a Worcester Warriors fan.

lol bless your oldie sounds like this one! he has never brought an animal home before until now! Like yours he's brought lots of other odd things home ... the usual twigs, leaves, moss, feathers, pegs etc .... but some of the strangest have been paper plates, AA batteries, a sock and he once stole a lillet from my handbag and paraded it round the living room in front of my OH's friends who were round to watch the rugby!

They definitely keep you amused :) wouldn't be without them!

:hello:Good morning! Haven't posted for a few days but been trying to keep up with the thread though I now can't remember most of what's happened:o but I have remembered to say

CONGRATULATIONS MIOLIERE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

hilstep - You poor love, falling and then getting shingles, that's just not fair! (((HUGS)))

LameWolf - Hope you've recovered from your fall.

Belated birthday wishes to those I've missed :o and Happy Birthday tiredmum just in case you read today's thread after you get home!

patentgirl - Nice to see you! And so glad to hear about your DH's new job :j

halight - Hope the twins are better today.

Will wash DS's bedding in a minute. Then we're going to the Post Office to return some stuff to Cotton Traders, and also have a very short list of things to get from Sainsbury's. When we get home DH might cut some of the grass, as i'll soon have to hack my way through it with a machete to reach the washing line :p

This afternoon we're taking DD1 and DSIL1 to visit DGS who was 3 on Sunday - we didn't see him on the day, as they went to the beach for the day.

Dinner will be cottage pie - a bit of a hot day for it, but i got the mince out of the freezer a couple of days ago and then didn't use it, so must use it today.

Sorry this post is so scrappy, brain's not in gear , (((HUGS))) to all who need some.
  • Hi Guys!

The GP came out last night and confirmed I have Swine Flu. OH got my perscription and GP is going to check regularly that I'm ok as I take chemo drugs weekly which are auto-immune. The nurse is taking some bloods in the morning. Lots of fluids and rest. I feel really down. I'm not sure whether to let my mum know as she will panic.

Anyway, I dont have much energy and everything hurts with a mega headache and temperature, so I have the fan on.

    Hope evryone else is ok.

    PP

    Hi everyone,

Congratulations Mioliere on your lovely GD.

Well I'm back from my week looking after dad. In the end I was pleased I'd gone, even though it was hard work - he can only manage to go from bed to chair and back again so he needs everything doing. Having me there made him determined to manage his colostomy by himself so that will be a help to mum who had been getting up in the night to help him with changes! It was the first time I've spent any length of time with him for about 30 years (and we didn't fight).

I also managed to get him on a basic 1500 calorie a day plan (he had been on less than 1000) and convinced him that he needed calories not nutrients (which he gets from his special drinks) so he will continue on his present regime, just adding bits as often as he can. He finds even chewing tiring I think because he wasn't able to eat at all for 10 weeks so his jaw muscles have atrophied as much as his leg ones.

Mum came out of hospital on Sunday morning and I left them with a freezer full of meals and instructions to my brothers to help them (we'll see).

This week I'm preparing for our week awa in Austria from Saturday and trying to reconcile myself to losing DS who has been made the manager of a Lidl store which is a bit too far way to comute so he'll be renting with his lovely GF. On a brighter note DD might be moving back home for a while.

PP I am so sorry that you've got swine flu on top of everything else. I hope you get better soon.

Halight, hope the twins are well on the mend now.

Pen-Pin - So sorry to hear you got swine flu
One of our friends has also contacted Shingles, seems that is on the up atm, and it's very painful as I know from having them twice.

Had a phone call last night from the husband of an old work friend, who has passed away suddenly yesterday. She must be only 54, she had been suffering with ME over the last few years, after overcoming depression after her first child, but awaiting autopsy for more info.

Posted off parcel sold on ebay over the weekend, and done small shop at the local Co-op had voucher so really a no spend shop.

Hi there, I hope you don't mind me joining in here. I'm really trying to reduce my spending as I am probably going to be made redundant shortly - nothing definite yet but it is on the cards. I have been watching 'Economy Gastronomy' and have been quite inpired by it. This week I have done a meal plan and only bought what I needed at Aldi. £38 plus freezer contents for 2 adults this week, including non-foods like laundry, loo rolls etc. We had tuna pasta bake with garlic bread and salad last night which was very good.

We have quite a few courgettes to use up and I have a good soup recipe but there is only so much soup we can eat so I'll be looking for other recipes today.

I will make some of Twink's hob nobs later as well as my DS goes through biscuits for fun (and I'm quite partial myself) and these are so good and I know what goes into them. I might even dust off the BM and make a loaf.

I have been trying to keep up with the Flylady thread too, which is going OK but no stars yet!

PP - sorry to hear that you have SF. It sounds like you have enough on your plate at the moment. I hope you soon get over it.
