Morning everyone haven’t been on here for ages so thought would get back in the hang of having a daily OS chat

Congratulations Mioliere my DD is due the 6th of Sept and looks ready anytime now she is massive but only put the weight on her bump so she looks even bigger being so skinny everywhere else I cant wait to be a Nanny it is funny because last august we were both going through the weddings now the babies!, my DS girlfriend is due in dec so we will have 2 grandchildren by the end of year hard to believe

Still trying to be very OS as much as possible more so since DH was made redundant end of may but he has just hard last Friday he has a job after applying for loads so that is a weight of our minds at least it gave him time to get the allotment well and truly up and running it certainly makes a difference having his vegetables, fruit next year he hopes as well

    Happy birthday Tired Mum

Mrs Mix your DS2 was very brave 5 teeth out!
DH is going prawning later so nice easy tea one of his, garlic and home grown chillies with olive oil mopped up with plenty of bread

    Morning all
Lovely blue sky here, hubby already at work, I was going to go in, but can't my room isn't safe to work in & probably won't be ready till next week if then!
I'll do some more sewing today as I'm out with the DD & DGK tomorrow. I'm so proud of my DD she's lost 3st.
I watched 'The future of food' last night, they had a £2 lasagne from Iceland, they used 2 to feed a family of 2 aduts & 3 children, so as I'm costing all my meals out at the moment I'm going to see how big a lasagne I can make for £2.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Is Future of Food a telly programme? Scuse ignorance only I don't watch telly as a rule, so don't see ads for up and coming interesting things.

Am going to be sewing for my living for the rest of the week when time allows, bit job lot to do for someone. I love it, radio on, get whizzing. Just having a little relax here waiting for it to arrive. It's leaving me rather short of time preparing for visitors and camping trip, so kids gonna have to help. Or rather ds is, dd is at work, dh away for work for 3 days.

So glad the sewing is arriving to do, tennis elbow is still very bad and I can't do any proper cooking, housework or sewing. It's so frustrating. Went over to sewing last night and caught up with the girls, which I really enjoyed.

Meals are planned for visitors, must go and get out the leg of lamb for tomorrow. Kids on veg prep tonight methinks. When is the sewing going to arrive? I need to get cracking!

    Morning everyone!

N9eav: no I don't think the sentence is long enough.

Thriftlady: which rugby team do you support? We are Scarlets fans in this house, although we only tend to go to watch internationals. Every year they make one of the Autumn Internationals "family friendly" with cheaper tickets for children, so we take the boys. Last year it was Canada, this year it is Samoa. It is a bit of a trek down to Cardiff for us so we stay overnight in a cheap deal Travelodge and combine it with a bit of Christmas shopping (game is in November).

Have got my plums simmering on the hob ready to make jam, am hoping to make lemon curd later too. Am going to make some Plum Oat Slices with the leftover plums. Tea tonight is going to be sausage pasta made with some lovely sausages that I bought in the Royal Welsh Show. They are from a proper butcher, who was selling them 3 packs of 6/7 sausages for £5. I bought loads and stuck them in the freezer! I love the show offers, I bought loads of cheese too, they were selling 3 x 400g packs of Cadog cheddar for £5.

Am also going to try and finish my daughter's cardigan today, I finished the button band last night so it is just a matter of sewing it all together and putting the buttons on. Then I can start on the knitted toys for Christmas!

Hope you all have a good day x

    Good Morning All

N9eav - definately too short - dont understand sentancing in this country

    :beer:Tired-Mum - Happy Birthday, have a great day.

I went to post on here at 7.30 and have been held up on the phone ever since. Its nearly 10 I need to shower and I havnt got anything done. I hate days that start like this sends me out of kilter for the rest of today.

Todays plans were - get some essential office work done this morning, nice lunch then off for a bike ride along the sea wall later. Its already so hot today. Think will have a pottering day and plan for a big day out tomorrow as its meant to be even hotter:j

Need to look at my menu plan as forgot that I am out tonight with my friends for their birthday -Nando's so not so expensive luckily but need to find something that OH can cook for the kids. Luckily we dont buy each other Bday cards - instead give a choccy bar for the same value.

Off now to try and get some routine back in my day, have a good one.x

A glorious day so far here in Essex. Must get some more washing done before we lose this weather.
Will spend today clearing out the shed:eek: ready for moving - still no news on an exchange/completion date. Getting really twitchy now as we are all back at school on 2nd Sep and want to get moved and settled in before then. We are moving into a different area although schools will still be the same ones, but I have to arrange bus transport etc. etc. and time is running out...
The delay in moving means that I haven't been planting the veg beds in the garden this season. I was expecting to have moved by mid-July so I have lost almost an entire growing season:mad:. I picked the last of the carrots and beetroot last night so the beds are literally empty. I still have tomatoes and aubergines in pots which I can take with me, but most of the herbs are looking a bit sad now.
Am off to put lamb shanks in the SC and need to get the BM on. DM has just called to see if I want to go to Lakeland in Ipswich on Friday - think of the cost:eek::eek::eek: - oh, that luverly jam maker.......
    Have a super day:j

Morning all  hope you are all well.

Tea last night was split pea dahl, rice and chapattis - I have the rest of it for lunch today. No idea what to do tonight - maybe falafels, but it's dependant on how much energy I have when I get home (I have been here since 5.40 am). I'm not feeling too good so might be hiding in the office all day :) OH hasn't complained about the absence of meat/dairy over the past week, so all is good (there are always fishfingers if he wants them instead).

I listed a box set of DVD's on ebay at the weekend - when did the postage rules change for media? I've not listed stuff for ages. It's a huge set of sci-fi DVDs, so I had to list them in a different catagory as it will cost at least £10 to post them all - there are 53 discs in the set! I'm hoping they will do well (the set new is over £100 atm - on offer at the moment from twice that) although I've already had someone bid a low amount then ask if I'd end the auction early. Can't blame them for trying I guess, but I have 15 watchers in two days, so the answer was no :) I want to clear out stuff, but I don't know what will sell on ebay. I listed an item on Amazon too, I've never sold on there before, but is seemed a better place to sell an opera recording than ebay. I just want shot of the clutter, it's driving me mad.

Right, must go and get coffee - it might make a bit more sociable, but I doubt it :) have a good day, celx

  • Hilstep - sorry to hear about the shingles - hope you feel better soon. Glad your DD is having an early scan, hope it puts her (and your!) mind at rest.

PenPin - hope you feel better soon too Hun.

Lesley - LOL at you with the tennis racket - sounds like the sort of thing I would do (well, if I had a decent garden to grow stuff in any more - I really do miss my old house for the garden, but not for the old ex-H that came with it LOL!).

Actually managed to put the SC on this morning with a whole chicken for tonight's tea and for DH's sandwiches later in the week. Actually it's a 'free' meal as I bought 2 chickens for Sunday lunch, then DSS#1 was working and MIL was not well, so we only needed one on Sunday!

Have worked out that (if I'm not made redundant in the meantime) I can go on Maternity Leave on Xmas Eve - how great is that!?!?!?! Also means I have a week's holiday to use up before then, so may be looking for a cheap break in October, but don't really want to fly anywhere, even though I could do with some sun....will have to get my thinking cap on!

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Hey everyone :)

Not long left of my holiday now ... gotta pop into work and gut my classroom and redo everything ... about 3 days work I reckon so think I may go in next week :)

Just found out my car runs out of MOT today  and no budget left to get it done this month! Not the end of the world as we do have a classic car I could use altho not ideal for Tescos shopping so at least I may save money in shopping and petrol! Can use the mountain bike instead :)

Managed to stick to our meal plan for the last couple of weeks ... avoided going to buy bread rolls and sliced ham for OH's lunches and have made a loaf of bread and he can have cheese and pickle for a filling instead!

Our littlest cat (who has special needs) caught a baby mouse lastnight and the only way we could get him to drop it was to squirt him with water ... let him out this morning to play with his sister and he went and found it again and brought it back in to put in my shoe :( didn't think cats picked up dead animals but he does  he has been squirted again and is now left outside with cat flap locked which he hates!

Today I need to pop to the PO to pick up a parcel for OH, drop OH's lunch off and start tidying the spare room.

Hope everyones days go ok :)

    Morning peeps

Happy Birthday Tired Mum :bdaycake:enjoy your hols.

N9eav - That sentence is pathetic, life should mean just that!

I`ve decided that i`m not going to have a mad morning today, the last couple of days have worn me out. DH has taken the houndies away fishing for a couple of days and they are back later today. I have been having a huge clean whilst i have the chance and have shampooed all the rugs and scrubbed all the floors. Great chance to move all the furniture as there are no hinderances, trouble is i`ve been going into w*rk absolutely pooped.
There is still a bit more to do but i`m going to leave it until my day off.

I`ve washed my flat old cushions and given them a new lease of life by adding some more stuffing from some old pilows that i have washed so more saving there, they are quite large cushions so they would have been quite expensive to replace.

A girl at w*rk was throwing away a frozen turkey which was dated for May so i persuaded her to bring it to me instead :D it is now all cooked and stripped of meat, most of it has been refrozen for future meals and there is a big pile of tough bits for the houndies when they return, she also bought me some out of date strawberries which have now been picked over, washed and frozen to make jam at a later date so i`m very pleased.

Tomorrow i shall make some piccalilli from MSD`s recipe which i used last year, it is great and its always nice to see the cupboard filling up with hm goodies in jars. My Mum is saving some more jars for me so hopefully i shall have a delivery soon, we are still eating the delicious marmalade that i made last year.

My river cottage preserves book has been delivered so i have been having a sneaky peek in there, it has some smashing recipes inside and i hope to settle down for a proper read soon.

Ravylesley - LOL at the tennis racket :rotfl: you are more than welcome to pop over with it and have a go at mine, the cat chases them but there are lots more cabbage whites than usual this year and two of my broccolli plants have been nibbled beyond all hope  mine are netted but the leaves have started to get quite big and the butterflies have started to lay eggs on the net, some fall through and the munching begins not long after. Tomorrow i`m going to remove all the nets and pick over all the leaves for eggs.

I`m off for a nice hot shower now :D

    Have a good day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
