  • Thanks Fire Fox

You are right. My kids certainly do not get the latest things but I dont want them to have nothing so I try to do cheap days out and holidays. Im hoping thats what they will remember when older.

Today was good a NSD other than the diesel - I did not resort to a take away although very tempted. I even peeled spuds instead of doing chips.

Hi keeping positive - how old are the kids and how much pocket money do you actually give them? What are they expected to buy with that?

My DS gets £2 a week (he is 11) and my DD currently gets 50p a week but often gets this topped up if she sees something specific.

Are you doing the Make £10 a day challenge - I use that to help pay for xmas and birthdays... The Special Occasions board was a life saver for me last year - most people I know got hampers - often filled with things from my more spendaholic days.... They all loved them apart from my dad who is a bit of a grouch anyway

  • Kids dont get pocket money as such although they would like it. The 50 is to cover kids costs such as days out, swimming, brownies, guides, icecreams and trest etc.

£10 a day sounds so daunting but I have just done two valued opinion surveys so £3.50 towards another £10 voucher. Just checks onepoll for the first time in a few months but only 5p and a £50 voucher available - it all adds up £9.95 towards the £40.

Thanks Saving Holmes - hope thing going well for you. Im not keeping up on her as much as I was

Brief review - no set pocket money just used towards kids cost such as treats, daysout, brownies, guides etc. May be time to see if I can give a bit out each week.

£10 sounds vary daunting and I dont want another breaskdown which is what I had at the start of the year. Other things came into it but I did Body Shop to help. Backfired in the end although money made money then spent by not watching the budget :(.

I have checked on one poll for the first time in ages 9.95 towards the £40. Did two valued opinion surveys do 33.50 towards the next £10. Not very good at writing even though I have to write long reports for work so I think Doo you out the question.

    HI KP

Kids can be expensive can't they. Hopefully if you do a spending diary you will have a better idea of what you are spending. Most people spend less who are disciplined enough to do a diary so that is an added benefit. I do free daily scratchcards and bingoport mainly. Not got far with dooyoo - struggle to motivate myself....

Completely agree with not taking too much on and being realistic in what you set out to do.... I have to pace myself....

£1.25 the last money in my purse went to DD1 to get breadrolls in for tea. Whigh is actually a sucess as they all wanted McDs for tea

£16.50 and £25.00 in tesco vouchers arrived today :j.
