It takes less than 24hrs. I ported from o2 PAYG to Iphone
Bump! Just hoping that the mobiles.co.uk representative can confirm whether I can switch my O2 simplicity number through to an O2 contract iPhone - and how long this is likely to take?
  • Hi,

Last I knew you could transfer any existing O2 number onto a new iphone contract - but if this holds for Simplicity I simply don't know.

Best bet is a call to O2.

    Regards,

From an email I received from Mobiles.co.uk just yesterday:

"Transferring your number, known as porting, is only possible when you move from one n etwork to another. If you have a new contract on the same Network as your old number then it will not be possible to transfer it."

My existing contract is not Simplicity.

Hmm - iPhone is (or was) a special case, in that O2 have the exclusive and so had to admit that existing O2 customers might want to upgrade.

I'll look into this and make sure everyone here's got accurate information.

    That'll make a refreshing change!

For those interested, my new iPhone arrived today from Mobiles.co.uk. I rang O2 Retention Team on 8002 who transferred the number from my old O2 contract to the new contract. Everything is working just fine and dandy.

Good, that fits with what we've found.

Did you have to obtain a PAC?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

The guy at O2 mumbled something about a PAC but he didn't go into it with me.

I guess they raise a PAC and then give it to themselves. Thanks for the info - I've passed this onto Sales/Customer Services so hopefully they'll know for next time.
