mobiles.co.uk and the iphone and credit checks

Hi there!
Just a very quick question - I'm currently on O2 Simplicity (yes, the £20 with the free internet) after many years on "proper" O2 contracts. Fell in love with the iPhone on the weekend.
I guestimate that mobiles.co.uk, through quidco's £60 deal and recycling my broken old N95 8GB for £55, with the 18mth, £35/mth deal works out cheaper than Simplicity and a PAYG iPhone. Probably, though I lose the perks (which I am very keen on) of more txts and more freedom on Simplicity.
Anyway - can I skip the mobiles.co.uk credit checks as a current O2 customer, or will I have that nervous wait on my hands?
Can someone persuade me that I'm doing a Bad Thing? PLEASE?
Thanks

I might be wrong RB but I think it is the Service Provider ie O2 that do the credit checks so it would be in your favour to be on O2
It's not just about the money0 -
Hi there,
A credit check would still be performed by O2 as you are requesting a new account. The fact that you have a previous/existing O2 relationship may affect the outcome of the check though.

Thanks guys... Seems like nobody has yet screamed that getting the iPhone is a bad idea and therefore I should probably go for the most expensive gadget I have/will ever buy on a whim.
My mother will not approve.0 -
You shouldn't get it unless you can definitely, absolutely afford the line rental for the minimum term, if that helps?
If not buy an iPod Touch and learn to like WiFi

Hi,
I have a related question:
Am I in danger of not receiving quidco cashback if I have been asked to provide proof of ID & debit card information by one of your staff as part of the credit check?
cheers0 -
No, you are not - it doesn't affect the cashback.

In that case I've little choice but to tuck in (as long as I defo get the mobiles.co.uk/quidco cashback!)
I'm currently on O2 simplicity, but will obviously need to port my number to the new Mobiles.Co.Uk/CPW/O2 iPhone - how long does that take? Is it a matter o f ringing up O2 and asking for my PAC code, before then passing that same code to O2 again?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks again chaps and chapettes!

Bump! Just hoping that the mobiles.co.uk representative can confirm whether I can switch my O2 simplicity number through to an O2 contract iPhone - and how long this is likely to take?0

Hi,
Last I knew you could transfer any existing O2 number onto a new iphone contract - but if this holds for Simplicity I simply don't know.
Best bet is a call to O2.
