Same with resettlement. You cannot have any resettlement, pension or benefit taken away once it is earned. MOD have lost loads of court cases on this. Think Fred Goodwin - the reason they had to ask for him to forfeit any pension rights was because he had a legal right to that grossly overinflated pension he had 'earned'.

Right, I have had a brief by these chaps - http://www.forpen.org/ They are an organisation that has been set up by ex-mob types, and offer advice to the likes of you.

    they are:
We exist to ensure that serving and retired members of the Armed Forces, their widows, widowers, surviving partners, civil partners and dependants receive the pension to which they are entitled and which they deserve.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we value our independence, which gives us the freedom to campaign objectively on behalf of our members and of members of the Armed Forces generally

Have you actually spoken to an IERO (Individual Education and Resetllement Officer) these are civil servants (normnally ex-soldiers) who work in the very field of ensuring that service leavers are resettled. Any leaver should always speak with an IERO and even after leaving you should be given access to one for advice. IEROS can be found by contacting your welfare office/admin officer/local army education centre.

Yeah, they are the enemy. Do yourself a favour and give the Forces Pension organisation a ring; those civil serpants are worse than that bird on Little Britain, you know, the one that says "Computer says nooooo....":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

reddoggybag - not all of us think the same as mbga! some of us are very grateful for the advice that you and other civil servants offer on here. I used to be a civil servant and know just how you feel.

no offense to mbga here but the link to forpen is for pensions! its not a pension question that the OP raised, but one about entitlement to resettlement which is entirely different. I would be interested to find out about whether resettlement entitlement can be withdrawn as my husband was told he was not entitled to any form of resettlement. And he was not a naughty boy!

It was over 12 years ago but its not the point as i lost out on everything and now i am having to work in Iraq for a job as i only know what i was taught in the Army

It seems that some people replying have missed this little fact that I have highlighted in bold type.

As I read it, you were discharged after 17 yrs 256 days service and your date of discharge was sometime in 1997.

I doubt if there will be much you can do after such a long time.

    1. Any resettlement generally had/has to be taken within a certain time-frame unless there are extenuating circumstances e.g. Op tour within the last 12 months of service.

    2. The resettlement package has changed a lot since you were serving so the current rules do not apply.

I suggest you contact SSAFA or RBL to find out what help you can get as a veteran, rather than trying to claim resettlement 12 years after the event.
  • I lost 5p in 1997 anyone seen it?
