I'm glad to hear you're heading down there, Numpty - sort her out good and proper :) Wol, please be careful of your health - if you've got a bad lurgy that you've never had before, you really need to be extra careful with the stress of the build. I know I'm projecting onto you what happened to me last winter, but it really was horrible to be so ill for so long - do take care.

    I Don;t believe it :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Top totty all set to start laying the floorboards today .....only to find these finished boards have splits in them and can;t be used :mad::mad::mad::mad:....NOT AGAIN :wall::wall::wall::wall:

Good news is that this Supplier has responded proactively, checked rest of their stock and found the same.....and it sorting it out :o. So awaiting new shipment from Germany plus three weeks conditioning in the room plus one week to lay plus one week to sand and finish :(

Ah well - looks like I am well and truly burgered on the timings/finish date now. There won;t be a proper floor in the dining room for the Rave - (and probrbaly no wallpaper either) but the subfloor of ply will be in place. However hopefully the rest should be finished. :D

Luckily I had independent timber mill expert in today to write report for credit card company on the other oak (currently cluttering up Piggy Palace) and he confirmed what I thought.

The previous batch in dispute with the mill owner that started all this fuss are not machined properly, the boards are twisted and are is not of consistent appearance. He rejected over 50% of the boards for one reason or another. I should get written report in a couple of days and hopefully now I can get the floorboards sent back to the mill owner and get my money refunded :D

So not the restful day I was planning :o Now got hacking cough and feeling incredibly drained and hoping for an early night tonight as still getting very little sleep.

Oh no - as you say I don't believe it. How can one house and one lady have so much bad luck and dodgy materials thrown at them?? At least this firm are acting correctly it sounds. And sounds like progress is being made slowly elsewhere.

:grouphug:Do take care of yourself and if that lurgy/cough doesn't start to improve get yourself off down to the docs pronto. On the offchance you need meds or antibiotics you want them well out of the way by the rave (assuming you are not planning on being teetotal that weekend;)).

I have finally booked a hotel room for the rave weekend, sounds like I might have got the last room at that hotel for that weekend

    • I have antibiotics
    • I have YET ANOTHER load of floorboards delivered today that will be laid on friday (fingers crossed as should really wait untill monday next week at the earliest)
    • I have one less set of reject floorboards as they were uplifted when the new ones were delivered today (phew, thank goodness, Piggie Palace is rather cluttered and I don;t think there would have been room for another load :rotfl:)
    • I have garden furniture (not yet checked ...fingers crossed)
    • I finally have a replacement for the broken indoor piggie cage that was delivered last week- now Beechie can go into a proper "Piggie hospital" cage
    • I have a fully installed oven (need to clean and test it)
    • I have felt better this afternooon (having spent the morning in bed) and my temperature is now back to normal (was 101)
    • I got the all clear on the pelvic ultrasound scan which means I can continue on the hormone patches
    • 4th night this week without downing "toute la bouteille"

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

So there I was quietly minding my own business, chilling out and ironing the duvet cover (for when Taxi comes down :D) and looking forward to the womens semifinals at Wimbledon when.........

...... Gobby the plumber (a.k.a. "you should put a bullet through your guinea pigs head rather than spend that amount of money etc etc)......(bless him :p) turns up to put in my utility sink and suddenly all hell breaks loose ...at 1.30pm to be precise :D

Dodget and bodget (remember them???;)) had used a very specific chrome-plated screw with a flat countersunk head to affix the overflow waste - it leaked :mad::mad:. Seems that they cut said screw too short and then cross threaded the fixing so Gobby couldn;t do his job today and will return tomoz providing I could source said new screw of appropriate chrome/length/head size......the (dirty) mind boggles :eek:

Cue Wol spending the next three hours in every plumbers merchant/homebase/bathroom/DIY shop in the surrounding area......turns out the manifacturer of the sinks has a "proprietry" screw size :mad:

"Hello - could you please help a damsel in distress - I'm in need of a screw :eek:.......like this but, with a bit of extra lengthv :rotfl::rotfl:" - well it went down well in every shop bar the last one who said "this is a bolt madam not a screw"v:p:p:p

The rest were brill and we have had a good laugh...... and I hope I have found a screw that Gobby will be happy with tomoz (otherwise the whole build contract falls apart - quelle responsibility..... phew - what pressure)

SO - a very special mention to City Plumbers in East Grinstead :T:T

Thanks guys - and also many thanks to the plumber who was there placing his order at the time and helped advise :kisses3:

Despite the adverse situation of a single woman - I found some great and kind people out there today who were prepared not to take advantage and help me sort a serious (potentially calamitous) problem :T:T:T:T....all for the sake of a screw :rotfl:

Roll on The Rave - today it survived yet one more attempt to quash it :rotfl::rotfl:
