Wol's Riverbank tales: Part 3 Restoration

Hi Wol & Co
I had to venture out in a blizzard yesterday to go to the docs (I walked there and back:eek:), he kindly gave me loads of meds to save me waiting for days for repeat prescriptions and even took my blood pressure and was pleased that it was normal 120/80 - to think that back in 2007 it was something like 146/94:eek::eek: Have to go back to the chemist tomorrow (I went to the poxy one next to the docs) as they hadn't got everything I wanted. Nipped into Sainsbury to get a few bits and then came home and battened down the hatches.
I watched Maid of Honour on my new DVD player yesterday evening and watched a bit of telly before going to bed - got woken at 5.30am (probably by the girls upstairs) and then nodded off til 9am when I got up and slobbed in front of the telly eating junk, drinking coffee and occasionally slurping the peach vodka that I poured last night (too much vodka and not enough tonic and no room left in the glass for more tonic).
I am being thoroughly lazy but I have done the risk assessment and the risk assessment has told me to laze around until I feel able to work again (probably the weekend).
Yay Horace :j:j
Good to see Doc is thinking ahead...:T..my docs will only write a month at a time rather than 3 months  (so you have to pay for each month;s supply - there' s financial method in their madness). Hence why I fell completely by the wayside taking my meds...:o
Glad to hear that despite the polar trek, your BP remained normal :T
My risk assessment agrees with yours.....I have cancelled work appointments for next week as it has just started snowing....AGAIN....and I will need a blow torch to free up the car wheels (don;t think the creme brulee flamer will "cut it" so to speak :rotfl:) so would rather wait until the thaw...whenever that is
No excuse now not to get the tax return done....must go and start it all today
Will take a leaf out of your book and start by [STRIKE]logging all the expense receipts while [/STRIKE]watching Quantum of Solace methinks (not got any peach vodka..but I have some shrivelled clementines so maybe I can "infuse them" in something
)
This is a great opportunity to recharge your batteries.....and you're not missing anything on the work front because seems like most of the country isn;t working anyhow :rotfl:

The lights will also help to heat your house... (even the energy-saving ones, but they're not so good)
Hi Z

Hope you have enough supplies in and are eating properly

Hi Pingu
I have cleared a path to Piggie Palace - and they are very toasty warm courtesy of the electric heater in there.
No sign of a thaw here....in fact it's just started snowing again _pale_ with more forecast this weekend.

Hello Wol
Totally agree with the idea of staying indoors and taking it easy - sod the post-Christmas diet, fill up on loads of good stodgy food and hibernate! After all, it's what the animals do in the wild.
Re chickens - still getting eggs most days from the two of them, and apart from a stray black feather here and there, no sign of the annual moult yet, so maybe my two are hardy creatures. They are currently tucking in to baked beans mixed with breadcrumbs and leftover cooked potatoes, all mushed up and heated up in the microwave for a nice hot lunchtime treat.
Sgt Pepper and Eric Clapton - now you're talking serious good music. Along with Queen, Dire Straits, Status Quo, Meatloaf......One life - your life - live it!0 -

Hi Wol & all else who visit :hello:
Glad to hear that you have all your supplies & your siege mentality in order
In this home we are bored & boreder. Losing track of the days, no intention of walking to local shops to see whether I need to start worrying about food supplies.
Still have the waitrose long life loaf that I bought on sunday. It was reduced to 45p due to it's lenthend life expectancy being near to an end. It still makes damn good toast & marmite though.
We have bucket loads of pasta & thanks to my stockpiling Seeds of Change sauces when they were on offer we could have spaghetti bolognese every night for a week - apart from the meat bit )
The supplies are not low enough to make meals an interesting & challenging experience.
I may even have to make another CC payment just to entertain myself :rotfl:.0 -
Shaun - my birth certificate may say one thing but inside my head I'm about 21.
I am certainly nowhere near retirement age yet but I have been around for a while, enough to have one grown up child anyway. There's no point worrying about how old you are - you can't turn the clock back or stand still in time, and the only other possibility is death. Now that doesn't exactly float my boat, so I am just going to carry on getting older in the most disgraceful manner possible! Rock on all you lot who were teenagers in the Seventies! One life - your life - live it!0 -
