It been raining for 4 days here

    Cannot get washing dried

i was attacked by another giant spider this morning:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: it was hiding in the sink this time, i drowned it then boiled it:j:j

I need to go out today to sort my son out with a bank account for his EMA, I dont see why it cant be paid into mine, he will spend it all on shoite:rolleyes:
LOL Jinky your post made me laugh......also raining here for ages (although did manage a sneaky three hours where I managed to get some washing dried on Tue).
I also try to do 'bad' things to spiders......I hate them with a passion....the legs the way they creep up on you ........._pale_.
As for the EMA, this will be a learning curve for DS if he gets the money himself. Tell him that is what he is getting (plus any you might normally give him) and once the weekly (or how ever often it comes) amount is gone, it is gone! Only bail him out if it really is something that is an emergency and then only do it if you have to. hth My DS is still wee and maybe I am being naive here, but I hope you manage to help him get organised with it :).
Actually on looking for my list at the moment, hugs to everyone who needs one.

Have been up for ages after a rotten nights sleep - DS very nervous as he has to apply through clearing for a Uni place and he couldn't sleep. When he finally went to bed after 2am the bloomin tractor or sometime was making a horrid noise from way over on the farm - kept me awake for ages - sounded like a slipping fan belt - like a high pitched whine.

DS has phoned Southampton Solent Uni but can't get an answer until 9am. Has anyone been through this process before? I am finding it difficult to get answers as to where he has to go - UCAS or direct to the Uni.

Right off to shower, then I will try and do some flying before I leave for work in an hour.

I did this with my DS - it rapidly taught him that he needs to budget - good idea!!

When I was 17 I started Uni (just turned 17), just before that I started work in Boots, and any money I had I was expected to budget (train fares, books, keep to mum etc). TBH I think the being expected to budget my own money helped me be responsible with the money I had (and its kind of stuck!).
How much EMA does he get ?
Can you afford to give him lunch money (or some of it) ?
What do his friends parents do ?
I think if he starts to spend his own money he will eventually learn to use it more wisely ;).
Not sure this is any help .

    Sending him good luck vibes.
I got my place at Strathclyde Uni through clearing as I was planning to do 6th year but decided I had had enough after 5th year (Scottish Education system you can do highers in 5th and 6th year).

To make this flying related off to change DS and put the WM on now.
    Later peeps.

my Ds has one year left at college - last year he was funded by the bank of mum and dad!:mad: However he now has a part time job at a well known fast food place and we are negotiating......

he will now pay for clothes and social stuff and lunches...leaving me funding the driving lessons....still they are essential.....

Jinky - Technically that's what EMA is for. It can only be paid into students account as it is for them but as it is worked out on your income then it is to help with college costs. I think it is a stab and replacing the old grant system (showing my age now) but doesn't really come close I don't think -but it is more universal and not just for the out of town students. I would definately let it go towards lunches, pens, paper, bus fare etc and anything else I can think of. And if any morecash is required then I think all teens should do what we had to do and get a job (none of this can't work til 16 rubbish (unless employer has a special licence or family memeber or whatever it is) at 16 it was time to get a proper job!!!!
    Sorry rant over.:mad::D:D:D

What is the EMA supposed to be used for?

    OK google is your friend

What could EMA do for you?

EMA is paid straight into your bank account
Whatever you decide to do, EMA could help you with the cost of books, travel, equipment or anything useful to continue learning.

So that is what he uses the money for - his responsibility
