Well I have 3 bags for the charity shop so far - 2 binbags I've already put in my boot and I will aim to drop them off tomorrow. After sorting all the shoes I've put what remains in the ottoman where they're supposed to live and I can't shut the lid - probably the reason why there's always shoes all over the conservatory floor and DR floor!

On a different note, can anyone recommend a deodrant for a soon to be 6 year old boy? Is there a mild one which is less likely to irritate young skin?

Oh and do anyone's kids use Hama beads as I have some going spare?

And does anyone want a couple of hi-vis waistcoats (age 4-7)?

It's ok - he has congenital adrenal hyperplasia - which at the moment is causing him to start puberty early so he's sweating quite a lot and is a bit smelly:o. I'm hoping his medication will stop it soon but when he's been running around a lot he's a bit wiffy - think teenage boys!

I wouldn't allow a 5 year old to wear deodorant.. it is not necessary and is liable to make them sore regardless what they use, and it may cause irritation to the breathing too. My 13 year old has Sure or Tesco own band.. not the value one.. the proper one. My 10 year old doesn't need it so has none. My oldest 2 girls (15 and 12) both use Sure or Impulse.

eta.. Just read your follow up post.. I'd still not let him wear any.. I'd bath him more often, he is little more than a toddler and the thought of 'adult' smells on my little ones makes me cringe.

another 2 loads of laundry in the WM and another 2 out and the first 1 in fromthe line to be folded.. DW loaded.. just need to think of somethingto feed this bunch before they eat me alive!

You sound like you have been a woman on a mission today Jue, same here. Been picking up hama beads as well! I can't believe how much stuff I have thrown out of Miss A's bedroom. Almost at the 'starting to look better' phase and the landing floor has almost been reclaimed. Been a long slog but I think I may have broken the back of it :)

Just having a couple of minutes and a couple of marshmallows.

Julie - given that he's so young have a look at the 'natural' options. Stuff like pitrok (or weleda, green people, lavera etc).

Also make sure that he has a deodorant and not an anti-perspirant so that pores aren't blocked and irritated. Most important is to make sure that it's aluminium free and preferably unscented (less likely to irritate). Make sure he's aware of the need to wash frequently and also to have clean clothes, as it's often the sweat on clothes that bacteria are busy working on, not the sweat on the the body!

I hope he isn't feeling too self-conscious about it.

I do bath him:o but he had an all over wash this morning and then he's been to the playscheme running around for a couple of hours and he's wiffy. I was thinking that after he's been running around at playtime and dinnertime and had a PE lesson, nobody's going to want to sit by him in the afternoon:o.
