    Thanks Urg...good idea.

The thing that's hit me hard is that triple negative is not as treatable and can get it back very quickly and has a worse prognosis at survival rates at 5 years...that is scary. Before I had every confidence that I'd be around in 20 years.
Now my battle is to make it to two years without recurrence or secondaries and then onto 8 years where my chances are as good as hormone positive ones. This is one hell of a fight ahead.

So sorry your going through all this, I just wish I had a magic wand, but life sometimes likes to send us on the scenic route.

Thats brilliant news about the appointment, ur BCN seems to be brillaint at pushing through, guess no-one will say no to her. The thing is as one of the other posters (apologies useless with names), your in the system, you weren't 3 months ago, and ur a fighter, once you found the lump you got sorted, look at me, put my smears off until I can't get away with it anymore, and thats on yearly recalls, becoz I had pre-cancerous cells, Ur a truper.

Now they know what they are dealing with your be in the system, for recalls, checks up, they won't let you get away with it that easily. U are a strong woman, and ur fight this with all the gust you did with your debts.

Ok the goal posts have moved, just got to kick that football a bit further.

Good luck with the wig session, just remember the long blonde wig, with the size 10 figure illusion, I've got 1st grabs........

The break will do you the world of good, and glad its not far away now, give you some time to relax.

Idon't know if you have got any further with the DLA form, but its def worth a shot, the money may take a bit of pressure off things.

I know when my friend had chemo (he had cancer of the throat), he did say that food tasted different, slightly metalic, it may just been him, but if it does happen to you, you may find that ur eat differently, just think of it as pregnancy cravings......... xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Taxi science daily ran an article on July 8th about triple negative ... From what I gather triple negative has fairly recently been discovered but they are making good progress in understanding and combatting it ... The article talked about reprogramming the gene so that tamoxifen worked so that it reduces reoccurances etc ... Not sure if that gives you any comfort but I hope it does

I totally agree with you wol2

In January my step brother was diagnosed with cancer and one week later told that it was terminal and was given the impression that he didnt really have long - and he was thinking of refusing chemo on the news he was given. He has been having chemo, and on the last scan it is all shrinking and they are talking about annual chemo to keep it at bay - I dont think you can predict anything with cancer - we are all individuals with an individual cancer, and it and you will take your own path. You can only do what you are doing - and that is be positive, eat well, rest and see what happens. The statistics cover all people, a lot of them will not have had their cancer picked up as early as you have - I would imagine it is more normal for it to already be in the sentinel nodes than not - and these figures will reflect these people's outcomes - and yes once cancer starts spreading it is more of a challenge. But yours currently has not, so they have every chance at zapping every cancer cell left after the operation so that there are none left to cause any future problems.

Having said all of that, as I said before my CC was diagnosed during the very high profile treatment and death of Jade Goody, and I was really spooked by that and much as the info I was given was positive, I couldnt get her journey out of my mind and couldnt help but compare it to her experiences and think that that could be what will happen to me.

Anyway sorry for the long and rambling post - good that you have a quick appointment, take someone in with you if you can, make notes if you can, question anything you dont understand, and try and think of questions before you go in that you need to know.

    that lot sounds interesting el....
Will search the internet tomorrow to see if i can find that article..

Avastin was a drug that was effective in trials but nice decided it was too expensive so that os one ruled out...there are a couple of trials of other stuff but haven't looked into them fully.

my hopes for the future are that if it recurrs then they may have something new in the pipeline.

You can't put it to the back of your mind, its right there in the front and is effecting everything you do!

You can tell it to F*** off, and you are not giving up or giving in....................it is very scary but like all scary things, we have to stand up to them and that is very very hard and scary in itself.

But you have to allow yourself a chance to absorb what has happened and then take a breath for a few days, absorb what has happened and then, when you have strength, fight all the negative feelings that cancer brings and that in itself is exhausting, never mind the physical affects of your illness.

The strength you have to take from anywhere, and everyone. Your family, your friends, us crazy chicks, hollistic therapies, counsellors, your faith...........anything!

BUT YOU WILL GET THERE. I KNOW THAT FOR SURE

    Excellent post RED :A

The triple negative was a bigger shock than being told I have cancer.

Just need to absorb it as you say and you are right I won't give in.

Hi Taxi, I spoke to my sis and as you know triple neg is not what you want, but she said it is GREAT that your nodes are clear.

As I said to you on day 1, I know more people that have beaten cancer than it's beaten. My sister always says it is increasingly more like a chronic, than terminal illness.

Do not underestimate the power of positivity (easy for me to say I know), but there are books out there that help you focus the mind, and we all know what a powerful tool our minds are.

My uncle got bowel cancer in his late 40's, had to have a colostomy bag. then when he was 80 (he looks 60), got mouth cancer, had it removed, treatment etc. He's now 82 and has just had a mild heart attack, yet he is never without a smile on his face.

He has very strong faith - religious and otherwise. He thanked my Mum when she offered to pray for him but said "Thanks for your prayers - but I won't be needing them because I'm going to be fine"
He just doesn't worry and doesn't let any negative thoughts get in the way, because he knows he'll be fine.

He is an inspiration to me every day and hope he can be for you too xx

Disappointing news about your results -two steps forward, one step back comes to mind......

Re chemo - I have no direct experience but I do know that some years ago a scalp cooling device was developed - you wear it whilst having the chemo, it cools your scalp right down, reducing blood flow and thereby reducing the amount of the drugs that get to the hair follicles - result, little or no hair loss in some cases. Don't know whether that therapy is available in your area, but if not, then get some really outrageous wigs and scarves and change your image totally! Or go for the Yul Brinner look and really flaunt it with big earrings, bold makeup and a big smile.

You know all our thoughts and millions of positive vibes are going your way, and it sounds as if you have excellent support from your specialist nurse team. There is no reason why you should not be one of the lucky ones who get through this. Just look after yourself, focus on living to the max and celebrate your life so far and the life still to come.
