Fed up with people jumping on the 'we hate Ryanair' bandwagon!

Options
Is it me, or is everyone seeming to jump on the hating Ryanair bandwagon recently...is it just because it's summer or something?

Latest thing that annoyed me was Joe Mott (a Daily Star Sunday columnist only z list famous for being the twerp who dated Sarah Harding till she found someone better) writing a column on it and his flight.

Yet he doesn't say why he didn't like Ryanair, just that they caused him to miss his flight last year. No doubt HE caused himself to miss his flight! No reasons, just he hates Ryanair because they charge you £40 to print out your boarding pass at the airport...which he didn't have to do. And because they weighed his luggage three times (maybe to check that it was underweight correctly) before boarding...which is standard for any passenger. Oh and that the gate opened five minutes late!

Oh and he also wrote that last year he vowed never to get a Ryanair flight again, yet he did this year. What an absolute plank....Michael O'Leary must be running scared at this latest piece of rubbish journalism!

Is it me, or is it suddenly 'cool' to hate Ryanair?!

lol just for the benefit of Moonchild...I'd never proclaim to love Ryanair and if they are at fault I'd happily say so.
Some people have no justification for hating them, people want transparent pricing and moan when the £5 online check in fee is listed seperately, yet every other airline has it included wether it be for online or airport check in fee, somewhere in the fare. Journalists should know better!

It seems unfortunately it is equally cool to love Ryanair and be rude to anyone who may dare to question them and their methods (I am not referring to the OP, just generally).

I still maintain that the online check-in "fee" should not be listed seperately when it is unavoidable; which it is on many routes and dates. Of course whoever you fly everything is included in the fare somewhere. but that goes for anything you buy.

Using your logic, Tesco could do the following:

    Beef Joint 0.01
    Potatoes 0.01
    Carrots 0.01
    Broccoli 0.01
    Bisto Mix 0.01
    Stuffing Mix 0.01
    Wine 0.01
    CD 0.01

    Total 0.08
    Trolley/Basket Surcharge 7.99

    Checkout Fee 10.00

    Wheelchair Surcharge 1.75

Total Due 19.82 (Edited due poor arithmetic - but you still get the point ;))

Anyway, back to topic, I don't hate Ryanair, I've used Ryanair for some £10 return flights a few times and they did exactly what it said on the tin, no complaints, very cheap. The online check-in fee annoys me, its just stupid.

I also have some concerns on the wider scale of what them and their methods are doing for the industry as a whole, from the point of view of people who work in the industry, not the people who enjoy the 1p flights. (their employee relations are less than good).

That said, I'm sure they will continue to be succesful. If they offer the best option for me, to the desintation I want to go, on the dates I want to go, then i will use them, just like any other airline.

Bandang...... YES YES and £30 for a YES.
WHY WHY why can't these operators just give us the price we have to pay.
They would be made to do so in any other field. YOU ARE RIGHT. I was DUN PROPER by Eurotunnel last week, Quoted £89 same day return, then charged £122 at the gate, couldn't get back within 24 hours due to car problem, SINGLE FAIR from F to GB ...............€235 ...............Robin Baskets,

We are prisoners of the Island of GB, they all rip us off to get out, but let thousands in for now't.

Nah, £19.82 if my mental arithmetic is working correctly :D

I cannot believe that you have tried to rip me off for the grand sum of 13 pence!

Ahh, I of course forgot to mention the "Cash Payment" surcharge of just 13p!!! This is of course a special offer to cash payment customers.
  • I agree with the Tesco analogy.

But what if the groceries really were available for 1p with no added charges if you purchased between 12pm-12.30pm and paid with a Tesco credit card?

Some people would adjust to fit to make sure they got the deals at 1p. And 8 grocery items for 8p is a real bargain that made the effort worthwhile.. There would be big queues, and checkout would be busy, and if you arrived at 12.28pm, you might be unlucky and see the shelves empty and wonder if the deal was actually on in the first place.. If you got there at 12pm, you had the first pick.

Of course, there would be people that could not meet the deal - ie. couldn't get to the shop at the right time, don't have credit card. And the special offer would never apply to premium items such as champagne, even though people assume it might due to the advertising.

Pretty much what happens with the flights. My own preference is that they show prices with taxes included outside of the promotional deals, but I can understand why they don't.

So could I use self service checkout and carry the goods in my hands to save the £17.99 ?

I doubt the self-proclaimed 'World's favourite airline' is too popular in Manchester today. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8205445.stm

Dmg I very much doubt there will be any extra flights from the airports mentioned (except the already announced Liverpool-Shannon). All the statement means in reality is that those who have already booked from Manchester will be turfed onto the existing Ryanair flights from neighbouring airports or can have their money back.
