Hi all,
I have just started re-designing a web page that was originally using frames.
I have also just discovered the joy of css.
In the new page i don't want to use frames but would still like to keep a navigator bar on the left side of the screen on all the sites pages. Is there anyway i can use css to do this as i don't want to have to edit all the pages each time a link changes?
The homepage is at www.jayhill.eu and the link of lists on the left side. No other pages have been linked to it as yet.

Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......

Try googling "SSI Tutorial" (server side includes). The web server can dynamically include a navigation bar, header etc... from a single file so that you don't have to include it within every page."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

Create tables and put the amount of rows in you need to create a nav bar0

You need a templating process in your development environment. If your not using serverside languages but building static pages then see if your publishing package can help you - doesn't dreamweaver do this and probably many others too?0 -
This might be useful

and this is inspiring - the same content changed with css only

Why not create a template (which includes the left menu as uneditable and the rest editable) that all the other corresponding pages use? You would then just need to edit the template to make site-wide changes to the menu.

No scripting language needed although it will depend upon your hosting environment. Easy to do and worth trying though. Using PHP, ASP, CGI etc... would be another good alternative."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
If you know PHP create a table and use the PHP include command for the nav bar, header and footer0
