Has nobody anything to say about the Coventry First [combined current/savings] account?
No article? No chat on the forum? (I "chose a search" but found nothing).
I would've thought this'd be a good'un to go for (and I have) - well, for 12 months anyway. 5.10% variable, including 0.85% bonus for 12 months, provided you deposit £1k per month, 4.98% AER (or was that 4.89? I'm doing this from memory!)

Coventry BS - 5.10% Current account
coventry building society current account
Coventry BS 5.1% and 250 free money
Best Current Account Martin's article:For a consistently high rate, but without the initial bonus, go for the Coventry Building Society’s First account. It offers 5.1% on the whole balance, up to a maximum of £250,000, as long as you pay in over £1,000 per month. It’s marketed as a hybrid Current and Savings account, but it has all the usability of normal current accounts – debit cards, instant access etc. (no cheque book though).0 -

Martin's article says it has no initial bonus. But it does, of course. Personally, I would think it better than LTSB and A+L. But possibly only as a savings a/c since you don't get a chq book. And maybe only for 1 year.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0 -
Coventry Over 60's account is mentioned quite often.
I put some savings there at 6% , coming up now to the anniversary, when it drops to 4.5%.
New accounts (over 60's) are 5.25%.0 -
The Cov' also do a special account to pay your Child Benefit into - useful or what (assuming you don't need the money for gin and faaaags)just in case you need to know:
HWTHMBO - He Who Thinks He Must Be Obeyed (gained a promotion, we got Civil Partnered Thank you Steinfeld and Keidan)
DS#1 - my twenty-five-year old son
DS#2 - my twenty -one son0 -
Well, then, with this Coventry First a/c at least 'The Cov' is finally providing something for people who AREN'T over-60 and who DON'T have kids...!Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

That's a prob with this site, I find. See my post of 24 Apr. about Zopa.
Not to sound ungrateful complainer...but this site could be made more useful if this prob could be fixed better.
I mean if you read the pop financial press, say Times Money, you begin to notice that +/- the same articles come round every three months or so. On this site discussion is restarted on the same subject as treated a week or two ago. Number of posts on a site is not same thing as usefulness. I think improving the Search facility would improve usefulness. Better less but better.Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.0 -

Probably sixty five...forget now...walked out in a huff. Went to Norwich and Peterborough who offers 8% similiar deal, but again hoops to jump, so didn't do it.
Thought about Halifax 7% which with the Web Saver at 5% seems a good account, but had a row a few years back, to their detriment (they were made to pay me £250),so figured they would eff me about if they got the chance.
So Coventry had the money, soon not to have the money.
All ISA'd up so got£2000 or £3000 to put somewhere.0
