Hi,

I applied to move my gas supply from npower to Ebico/Equigas around the 10th March, I got an email from Ebico confirming it all was going through.

So far I see !!!!!! all movement and its now almost the end of April. I have has 2 glossy cards through the door maybe 3 weeks ago saying thanks for switching and don't worry they are processing my application.

Then nothing......

I looked at the original email from Ebico and it says I should hear from SE or SWALEC within 10-14 days.

How long has it normally taken for people to be switched?

Thanks,

Mike

I started the process in late Feb - got what you got, the email and just two post cards, When I hadn't heard anything after about three weeks i phoned - I complained that I was expecting something within 14 days from Southern Electric - they said SE should never have said that and it nornally takes at least 6 weeks! I said it was Ebico who sent the email and was via their site sign up.
I said they should change the misleading email and talk to SE - you are supposed to be able to back out within 10 days from the receipt of a confirmation letter- which never arrived!

Anyway I got the message to report my final readings about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything since. Nor a final bill from BG and London Elect yet -

    Not impressed to be honest.

It did take a while. We supposedly changed over on the 10th of March and I am still awaiting a correct final bill from powergen.

Strange that Powergen managed to create a bill when we queried it and claimed it was from the final meter readings. But when my husband corrected the readings and queried it we where told it can take up to 28 days for the final readings to be sent from one company to another. But they had sent us out a bill on the supposed meter readings that Ebico had give them. Confused well I am.

well blow me we changed on the 10th of March and I now have a red bill from Powergen. It is now the 25th of April. Rather longer than 28 days if you ask me.

Now I know why I never changed before because of the pain in the rear end it is. By time I get the final bill from Powergen I am going to be having another from Ebico.

    Yours

Looking back I applied online 24th Feb.

The letter asking for final readings was dated 4th April.
I phoned in my readings on 6th April.
My Ebico supply was due to commence on 11 April.

It's now 25th April and I haven't had anything else from Ebico, SE or final closing bills from BGas or London Electricity.

    -So that's two months .

With Equigas and Equipower price increase soon, guess they are delaying until after then. (I think May 1)
Am in the same boat, two cards from Ebico and also three letters from Powergen all saying the same thing, and all in seperate envelopes. "Sorry to see you go, you will receive our final bill soon"

Hmm they never mentioned a May 1st price inscrease to me when I spoke on the phone today to follow it up, very poor indeed if thats true. :(
  • Haven't hear of the price increase either. Last time they raised their tariffs in Autumn 2005 they said they wouldn't raise them again in the following 12 months...

Was the "not for 12 months to the next increase" a promise, oe was it an intention? If it was a promise I might cricise them more than for a statement made that was expressing an intention. Howeverm wharever the case, the surprising rises in the cost of sourcing the fuel has to be recognised. Ebico, although an ethical co is nonetheless still a co, needing to pay its suppliers and staff. If it made losses and losses continued there could well come a time when a creditor (most likely a suppier to them, would decide to cease supply or apply for a winding up order. The effect would be that the vunerable, that the co exists to help would end up with BG or the local supplier on a deemed contract at much higher prices.

It is my personal view that increases now, what ever the intention of 9/05, is a safer option to protect the poor and vunerable.

As to the clerk not mentioning an increase. Managements do not usually tell the lower ranks everything in any business.
