Another consideration is whether to go cordless or not. I will only buy corded myself now. The motor speed on the cordless Ive tried drops substantially when you use the internal battery. Ive ended up using the power cable on cordless one just to get a smoother cut. Obviously you have the nuisance of the power cable, but that's no big deal for me.
If you have a look over at Amazon there are quite a few with reviews worth reading.0 -

I used to work in an office with its own onsite hairdresser who used to do mine for a fiver. I left there 7 years ago and bought a Philishave trimmer kit (think from argos) I use it every couple of weeks for a 4 on top and 2 or 3 back and sides. About three years ago I bought a Nicky Clarke set from tesco when they had an offer on for £15 to replace the Philishave one when it died but its still in the box as philishave is going strong.
I used to see barber monthly so work saving out to be £60 a year X 7 years is £420 quid. Clippers cost £20 so saving of £400. I would reccomend the phlishave ones.0 -
Obviously if you are cutting your own hair with cutters you will have limited styles you can do. Another option which i use sometimes is a comb with a razor blade inside it. This thins out your hair. You would still have to trim a few bits by hand, like your fringe etc. but does give you other options.0

doesn't Billy Connoly have a sketch based entirely on the 'damage' you can do with one of those, at least with the clippers its just a case of holding them against the scalp0 -
So ukjoel, do you think the Philishave trimmer kit is better than the whal, which is what most have recommended on here? I a looking for a number two all over. Does the Philshave come corded or clordless??

I am sure this is for someone with nearves of steel, I think I need a trimmer as appose to a razer (smile) esp as I dont have a steady hand!!!Obviously if you are cutting your own hair with cutters you will have limited styles you can do. I've been cutting my own hair for a while now, with some Babyliss clippers from Argos that were about £15.
Here's a tip for a more 'professional' look. Do your whole head with a grade 2. Then change to a grade 1 guard. Put on a baseball cap or similar so that the back is low down on your neck and about 1/4 in above your ears, and use this as a guide to trim the edges and to get a tapered look on the back of the neck.'Never keep up with Joneses. I bought the wahl cilippers and I must say I am really impressed with product. The clippers were purcased a Argos, and had alot of addittional, things inside including a carry case, siccers, comb, oil, various grading guards, apron and the cutter it self.
I was so excited, I used the cutters as soon as I got home. I shaved my head myself on a 2 Grading and was well impressed, why on earth had i not done this before.
Anyone thinking of clippers, the Wahi ones have got to to be the reasonable set at £18.79. I each haircut for me costs £7.00, with three hair cuts, it would pay for it self, now, onto my next money saving venture
Thanks allTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0
